Kentucky Gets QB in Transfer Portal
#1
Duke QB Maalik Murphy commits to Kentucky. Former 4* QB started his career at Texas, then transferred to Duke.

Guess it depends on how things go in spring practices, but I'd assume this would put the brakes on Cutter Boley being QB1 unless he earns it.

Could be a solid pickup at QB spot, he had some success at Duke, which I guess in football would be equivalentilavent to having some success at Kentucky. We'll see.

Has he committed or are we just talking about getting a visit? Not seeing it reported elsewhere that he's committed.

Well, I had seen it reported on X yesterday, wasn't a verified account or media outlet, just now done some more digging and it seemed like a fake account reported the news, but Maalik Murphy himself retweeted the report that he had committed, he said "lets get to work BBN!"

He did make an official visit, so the reports seem kind of conflicting on whether he committed or not. Think he would be a solid addition to the QB room.

with out a competent qb coach, wont matter who we get as qb transfer.

Well turns out Murphy made a visit and was in the running, but Zack Calzada made a visit as well, and ultimately committed to Kentucky.

He originally committed to Texas A&M where he was at for 3 seasons, didn't play 2020 due to COVID, then hit the portal to Auburn in 2022 where he didn't play a single snap, he then entered the portal again where he committed to Incarnate Word where he's been the last 2 seasons.

Had some early success at A&M in his second season under Jimbo Fisher, but decided to transfer to Auburn where he didn't play any. He finally found some success at Incarnate Word, which is an FCS School in Texas. First season he went 6-2 as starter, then last season as the full-time starter, IWC finished 11-3.

I guess we will see how this works out, track record after Will Levis with portal QB's hasn't been the best.

If this is true, Stoops should be fired, Barnhart should be fired, anybody that looked at this kid and said, yeah him, fired, immediately.

Well, it's true and confirmed that he has committed.

As for the whole regime being fired? Not gonna happen, unfortunately.

Unfortunately, unless we could get Patrick Mahomes or Joe Burrow in the transfer portal I’m afraid we’re in for another loooonnnggggg season in 2025.

UK is toast in the new SEC unfortunately. I hate it. Stoops got overpaid and got fat and arrogant and incompetent like Calipari but it doesn't matter. Unlike basketball there is no coach that can take UK football to the top of the SEC.

Stoops needs to be locked in a room somewhere while games are being played, UK absolutely had the talent to win this year, he is one of the worst in game coaches I’ve ever seen….We’ve had 10 offensive coordinators since he’s been here 10, you’ll never convince me they’ve all been terrible except one, he just won’t get out of their way and let them run the offense…

Your telling me UK cant recruit some MAC QB on the upswing to come to UK? We have to settle for some floosy from the prison league?

MAC would be a great place to start, considering that's where our guaranteed 3-4 wins come from every season!
