2A is by far the roughest to make it to the title game it will be a gauntlet to get there

Excited to see the Pirates compete in the 2A.

Letcher Central goes from 4A to 3A and replaces Belfry in that district.

Typically they'd have a better shot in 3A as 2A has been stronger for a while, but there's a lot of turnover at the top in 2A next year so tough to say at this point.

Somerset going to region 2 makes the East a little easier in 2A, but I think the Road to Kroger still goes through Beechwood. I think Belfry will be the 2nd best team in the East in 2A next year.

Belfry will struggle in 2A. They don’t lose many guys, but they’re used to a weak 3A class. Haywood may not win another title.

2025 - 2026 realignment is a done deal.

No more playing up/down. Probably as much movement this time to place schools in their "correct" class as there is to increased/decreased enrollment.

I believe there are over two dozen changes, including schools that are joining or dropping district play. Lots of redistricting in classes 2A to 5A.

Some notables?

Belfry, 3A to 2A

Murray, 2A to 3A
DeSales, 4A to 3A
Bardstown, 4A to 3A
Letcher Central, 4A to 3A

Elizabethtown, 3A to 4A
Highlands, 5A to 4A
Harlan Co., 5A to 4A

Warren Central, 6A to 5A

Hopkinsville, 4A to 6A
South Warren, 5A to 6A

Beechwood loses majority of their starters, BUT it is Beechwood. I’m sure they’ll be right there in the mix. How many “down” years have they had the last 45 years? Lol

You sure?  Haywood isn't crazy enough to think he's got a better shot against Mayfield, Beechwood and LCA than he does against CAL. Or maybe he got denied the jump this time around....

Schools are no longer allowed to volunteer to play up in class anymore. 2A is a different beast than 3A. Playing against bigger city private schools and bigger suburban independent schools has always been tough for mountain public schools. Belfry has been flirting with 2A on and off for the last 8-10 years, I think, but Haywood has always volunteered to play up before but their enrollment numbers are way down from what they were 10-20 years ago. Here's the document that KHSAA uses to determine football class.
