There can’t be any 3A team returning more than the bobcats. 4 seniors graduate that’s it. Got the entire backfield, 4 of the line, all receivers, and 8 defensive starters coming back. CAL loses the last pieces of what built the dynasty in hodge and cotton, but they will always reload. But some would say, me being the top of the list, the bobcats return one too many. This is a roster talented enough, especially with how players can transfer so easily now, to win a state title. But the man on the sidelines is not built for it this day and age. The days of his philosophy working are gone. There’s no power I teams in state this year, and probably wont ever be again. If there was a change in philosophy this roster could get them to kroger and maybe win it. With Mr. 51, they will get beat by a private school and then complain about how the other team has 4 guys who can throw it 100 yards and they get to ride charter buses, or whatever other dumb excuse his old mind can come up with.
I’ll forever be sick on how Bell County could’ve had 4 years of the spread offense with burnett, but now three years have went by and it’s been wasted. Or 2 years with thomas with spacing instead of a 11 man box. But i’ve already ranted on that one for 2 years. I know we got One more year of watching the most dynamic player in the area hand the ball off 40 times.
They will go undefeated in the regular season with a baby schedule, lose 4th round unless drastic changes are made.

Well, now that's what I call an honest opinion if there ever was one.

Realistically who is the great coach to follow someone like Dudley? Let’s be honest it happened several years back and we all know how that worked out and Bell had to go back and bring the legend back. Grass isn’t always greener on the other side! BTW Rock only lost 4 seniors as well and has every player back from a 2 loss season so while district might be favored by Bell it’s no given it’s why we play the game! Also with those 4 players rock lost only 3 were starters and one of the 3 only kicked FG and extra points. We lost a hard nose running back in Powell and a good defensive player in Creed Gabbard who played on the edges and would block on offense. Outside of them two we did lose a talented kicker and that is all. Rock has been ahead of schedule last two years and everything they accomplished wasn’t expected until next year and year after so with Lex Catholic moving to the west and Belfry dropping down to 2A I would argue Rock and Bell have the best chances of at least making it to Kroger next year.

But Bell is 3 first half turnovers from making that rock game not be close. But like i said all year rock could force turnovers that was what they lived and died on. I think they are not too far behind this year and should be a great game as always.(12-06-2024, 07:59 PM)Gridiron_Raid Wrote: There can’t be any 3A team returning more than the bobcats. 4 seniors graduate that’s it. Let’s look back at the coaches that replaced dudley. Greer, wayne, and mccreary all ran the exact same system with LESS PASSING then they had already. I mean if you decrease the amount of air attack compared to dudley then come on. Wayne loved double tight wishbone no receivers. So there’s a first time head coach in greer and a head case of mills, but both still won 10 games. Mills left the place in a dumpster fire, and still won 10 games 4/5 years. Winning 10 games and going to the third round has been done by 3/4 coaches. It’s not like it’s an anomaly what dudley has done. Everyone always says “who will replace the legend” but then they see talent is talent. He will probably retire after this next year, cause he’s not attempted to do anything with the junior class and below. But there’s 25 coaches in this state that could’ve done more with the roster the last 2 years.

So IMO….its WIDE OPEN.(12-06-2024, 07:59 PM)Gridiron_Raid Wrote: There can’t be any 3A team returning more than the bobcats. 4 seniors graduate that’s it. Coach Hilton's results speak for itself. Last year we were in the state finals. To tell you how good he is, both times he left our program dropped off with 2 very solid and successful head coaches. Coach Hilton is still an excellent coach as he was back in the 80s. I'm old enough to remember us being bad. He has a great staff and the man deserves respect whether you like him or not. I hope he stays 5 more years. That will be better than any alternative.

There was multiple teams there that basically was in the straight T, power I, offset I, I left and I right etc every play. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I think the I, Bone and Wing is making a strong comeback in high school football around the country. Everyone can NOT spread the field with WR's to run a Spread Offensive game plan. When they try they find that wall quicker then if they were running the wing T, flex-bone, wishbone. Conversation for another time but the two back set is alive and well in our state.

So he will run the exact same formation 10 straight times and the most dynamic or change of pace play call is a play action pass (at max 5 times a game) or sometimes a counter trap. Other under center teams rely on misdirections, triple options, super counters, and even MULTIPLE FORMATIONS!!! Look at what union county did all year.(12-06-2024, 02:33 AM)Khalisimo Wrote: this is a team im watchin closely what do we see in 2025 for dudley hilton and the bobcats

I watched all 13 games this season, and with a QB who was an all state athlete the year before, a 6’6 receiver and a 6’3 receiver (both all district), 2 super senior tight ends/H backs (maybe the most dynamic players on the roster than can do anything), and a district player of the year at running back line up in the same formation and run the same plays all the way into the ground. They had to go to the spread, and i mean HAD TO GO, 4 times. North laurel they scored 2 touchdowns in 6 minutes to finish the game when down 24-8 and then lose on a 2pt conversion play out of bone. Boyd they were down 2 scores in minutes, spread it out and come back to win. Rock they went to it sporadically from the second quarter on, and had over a 1/5 of the yardage Rock gave up all season (over 400 yds). Had three redzone turnovers in the first half or it’s 35-3. And then Lex Cath. They played the spread one single drive, and even then, just 5 plays. In those 5 plays, they got 3 first downs. They didn’t get that many first downs period. Now i can give 25 plus statistics that prove that this team and this roster required a spread offense, or better yet, 2 receiver sets at least. 13 personnel without an option system is elementary and requires that you completely dominate your opponent. Think about how good Bell County’s roster truly is and has been in the past when the play book is a handful of plays, and their is no audibles, option, or really anything that allows the players show their athleticism.

Not a fan of old dudley. But the man man can coach. After losing a mr football i felt like bell over achieved in 2024. Thats credited to the bell county coaching staff. Should be no differnt next season.
