Hate that it end the way it did for Brenden Anthony. What a great career for 35! Does he have any offers? As in big time offers

Let me say this too. That’s not excuses. All credit to Sayre. They were prepared and that’s a reflection on their coaches. Played exceptionally hard. Pennington threw the ball really well in those conditions. Coffman is a stud and as advertised. Slabaugh played really well too. Can’t name them all but their kids fought all night. Wanted it more and it showed.

Pikeville was a shell of what they were week 1 last night. I’ve always had huge respect for that staff but I’m just left scratching my head with some of the decisions made this year by Mac and Company

Pikeville is better than Sayre and I have given Sayre their due but that last night was the culmination of a year that is not consistent with the talent on the field.(Yesterday, 11:58 AM)Belichick Wrote: Let me say this too. Sayre is a dink and dunk passing offense and use short passes like handoffs based on the numbers. Pikeville simply gave them what Sayre was good at.(Yesterday, 12:09 PM)Orange Blaze Wrote:Raceland. Nobody has been as hard on Pikeville this year as I have but when you watch these young men play football for years and know what they can do and then see what they did on the field(and in some cases off the field) it’s very disappointing but for some reason in never materialized into a team but just a bunch of individuals not doing their jobs and definitely not putting in effort into the games and for that matter the practice. Brandon Anthony was a very good player and he came to play every Friday hurt or not. I do hope these younger players take a look at this year as what it was a disappointing characteristic of some of these older players and see that nothing is handed to you if you want something you have to work for it nothing is handed to you like someone said on here it was given to Pikeville before the games were started but in the good note life goes on well maybe not for JetPilot ( just kidding Jet) but hopefully some will learn from this and on to basketball but not for me I really don’t care much for basketball

I’m disappointed that Sayre did the job that we wanted to do! The argument in Ramland was do you want to play Pikeville now or in the finals. I wanted to play them early. Everyone else said it would mean more if we beat them in the finals. All a moot point now. My dreams of Glory are dashed! Thank you Pikeville.

From an outsiders perspective lots comes to mind. Was there a lot of transfers on this team? If so was there issues between the “true” Pikeville kids and the transfers? Was it parent issues? Was there parents getting in the kids ears ??? This causes more issues than people know. Was it coach issues?? Did the schedule physically and mentally drain the kids? Was it simply young kids not knowing how to handle success? Or was it to much pressure from the fans that basically lay claim to the championship trophy every year before the first game is played? Or….maybe this group of Panthers just wasn’t as good as everyone thought they should be. I believe it probably a little bit of all the above. In the end I’m sure that these kids enjoyed their time playing football at Pikeville and they will go on to be great young men because that’s what programs like Pikeville and Raceland are about. The tide has definitely turned…..has it turned orange?? We will know soon

Pikeville just won a middle school state title so I definitely won’t be singing ding dong the witch is dead lol. Pikeville hasn’t won 5 state titles since 2015 by accident. I would imagine the coaching staff will be spending the offseason working to fix the things that lead to what many consider to be a disappointing season.

Nobody done it better than Pikeville. No…it was illegal and they didn’t bend the rules. Raceland tried but didn’t have enough numbers to compete with what Pikeville had. These kids on the rosters moving forward will look more like class a kids and the playing field will be alot closer to the rest of class a. I’m not dinging anything cause I’m a Raceland guy that knows the Rams always find a way to stumble. We’ve been here before. Hopefully we can get it done but no….Pikeville isn’t going anywhere.

I was shocked with how vanilla and BORING the playcalling was for Pikeville. It is so hard in football to just depend on one guy for everything. Pikeville is just hand to Anthony, hand to Anthony, screen to Anthony, hand to Anthony....
Is there no one else on the roster they can get involved? Sayre just keyed on him all night.
That's one thing about Raceland. They have rushed for 2100 yards on the season, and dont have a guy over 500 yards. Pikeville has rushed for right at 1900 and Anthony has 1100 of them. Raceland is just deep this year at so many spots and will be for years to come. They start 3 sophomores on defense, and I believe 5 on offense!
But I blame that game squarely on the OC. You have to be more creative than that. He was calling the game like a JFL game.

I have to agree with this. I’m not familiar with pikeville football, or 1A football in general, but this being the first pikeville game I watched I wasn’t impressed by thier play caller.
you knew first down would be an inside zone run, you knew second down would be another run but outside this time and if they don’t go with a screen to the RB on 3rd down, they’d do a roll out to the right and try to hit something just past the sticks.
Not sure if this is an issue pikeville fans have noticed or if this was just a rough night play calling wise but they were more talented than Sayre just terrible play call decisions made all night.
