Had a great weekend in Corbin with the Reo Speedwagon / Loverboy concert and some BBQ.

My sister came down from Richmond for the show. We are big REO fans from back in the day.  Where did you eat your BBQ... Bubby's, Smokey Bears, or did my cousin smoke some pig's hind end for you?  Btw, that would have been the perfect opportunity for you to bring me a Boyle T-Shirt.  Smile
We ate at Sonny's.  I already have your new shirt.  You make it up the day after Thanksgiving and I'll give it to you.  It's a Large, that work?
That's not BBQ. You should have bought some of my sauce Smile

I'm going with Corbin in what should be a great game. I don't know anything about BBQ in Corbin, but I sure enjoyed reading about it. Now I'm hungry!

I'm about 15 minutes from Corbin and I make some of the best BBQ sauces in the country Smile

BBQ is one of my favorite eats. I might have to have some on Friday.

Smile This game should be a classic. Im really impressed with Ashland. I like the QB and the weapons they have on offense. very solid team and they have alot of poise. I like to give a shout out to the Ashland coaching staff as they have IMO done a heck of a job! I also think this year Salmons has done a great job with Corbin. Only thing about playoffs is that one team has to go home. Corbin is having a heck of a year and is one of the best offenses to watch play. Lots of players on Corbins team that I am proud of and playing some very good football. Good luck to both teams. Lots of talent will be on the field this Friday night in this one.

What Salmons has done has been pretty amazing. After the evil Greer left the kids high and dry, Salmons game in with less than 80 days until the first football game. He had just a few weeks to come here and put his stamp on this team and get the kids to buy in to what he was selling them. And they bought in 100%. Many were predicting 3, 4, or even 5 losses for this team. Instead, they had one loss to a very talented 6A Douglass team  on the road and really haven't been threatened in any other game. Tremendous job by Salmons. He looks to be a keeper.

I believe that whoever wins the turnover battle will pull this one out. I agree with what others have said about Salmons, he has done a terrific job in a tough situation.

Agreed

I remember those loss predictions before the season started. Here we are, one loss and a chance to go to the semi's.  A middle school state championship, Congrats on that! Future looks really bright for Corbin football.

Thanks King Kong! I am excited about the future as a Corbin fan, He has been very present in all aspects of football in Corbin all the way down to the youth league since moving here. I think Coach Salmons is doing a great job. I think the combination of the existing coaches and new coaches that came with him and all immediately being selfless and buying in to put these kids in a great position to compete has been awesome to watch.

Really think Ashland has been disrepected most of the year, and is looking to take the next step. I think this serves as the perfect opportunity for this program.

He speaks a lot about how good the culture is now. I just hope the evil Varsity Club people allow him continue to build the culture .  The kids have clearly bought in to what Coach Salmons is telling them. Salmons will bring good things(titles) here , imo, if the ego-driven, good ol' biys will leave him alone and allow him to coach.

Dang, sounds like they should've hired the middle school coach.

Can Corbin establish enough of a run game to keep Ashland honest?

If Ashland is honest, they will stay at home. They can't stop Corbin's elite passing game.

Corbin in a high scoring game

I think this will be a great game that could come down to who has the ball last. I think these two teams as well as Johnson Central were all very evenly matched and made for some exciting games this year. I think this one is no different. Good luck to both teams. I hope everyone stays injury free and whoever moves on can challenge Boyle.

As a Corbin fan you can’t be calling out the KHSAA.. surely.. lol
It doesn’t matter to me if you believe me or not but the way I look at it is this…The Smith twins got eligible and probably shouldn’t have would I have been happy if they hadn’t probably not but I would have understood…That being said they’re from a good stable family and their Dad is gonna make sure they do what they’re supposed to whether they played football and got scholarships or not….Meadors is a different story he doesn’t have that stable family, he needs football, he needs the scholarship, he needs the help….That’s my problem with all this I love Corbin and I want to win but I can’t say I wouldn’t want the kid to get the same opportunities if he was playing somewhere else he’s a good kid he deserves it….

I don’t know his back story, but it seems like staying at his old school and playing would’ve been the better move. Corbin selling their soul to get the Smith twins cleared probably cost them in this one.
And live where, on the side of the road?  I’m not positive to all the details but from my understanding Meadors has lived with Coach Salmons and his family for quite a while….Coach Salmons and this kid had nothing to do with the Smith twins, that’s my problem with the KHSAA either help out all the kids or follow the rules to the t and help no one….

The kid was living with the coach in West Virginia as well, should he have stayed in West Virginia just to be in a bad situation….My last comment on this situation, I want my team to win as much as anyone ANYONE but when some of these situations with kids on a different team and coaches are actually helping kids in a difficult situation then so be it, good on the coaches for taking care of a kid, even if we lose because of it…..Some of you all need Jesus…

Speaking of Jesus, I wonder how Jesus would handle this situation. We all know he is a huge football fan. Would he side with the KHSAA that rules are rules or would he agree with Coach Salmons and Corbin and say the kid should be able to  play? I think Jesus would walk into KHSAA headquarters and start turning over tables and chairs and trashing the place just like he did the Temple in Jerusalem . Jesus was always fighting for the underdog--- the poor, the disabled, the concubine. I just know Jesus would agree that Myles should play. Some of you are heartless, like TDHounds said. Try working to help the homeless like TD and I do. We love Jesus and so should you.

Jesus was always thinking out of the box. If a rule needed to be broken to make a point or to help a blind man or a concubine, then, my man, broke the damn rule. Myles would have played from day one if Jesus had anything to do with it, imo. I'm kinda pissed that Jesus didn't intervene but I guess he had his reasons. He always does. Maybe God told Jesus(unless Jesus is God, in which case God told himself) , just to screw it since it's just a damn football game. Maybe Jesus/God is trying to teach a lesson here. I feel bad for Myles. He's a good kid. Maybe Jesus wants him to be a carpenter, rather than a college football player. That Jesus is something else.
