Let's discuss Donald Trump's Cabinet nominees and other nominees who require Senate confirmation. So far, President-Elect Trump has announced the following nominees, who will require Senate confirmation:
Matt Gaetz, Attorney General
Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense
Tulsi Gabbard, Director of National Intelligence
Marco Rubio, Secretary of State
Elise Stefanik, Ambassador to the United Nations
John Ratcliffe, Director of the Central Intelligence Agency
Lee Zeldin, Environmental Protection Agency administrator
Mike Huckabee, Ambassador to Israel
I like most of these nominees. I really like his appointment of Matt Gaetz. He will be a huge upgrade over current AG, Merrick Garland. My guess is that the shredders are running 24/7 at the DOJ.

MATT GAETZ ONCE FACED A SEX TRAFFICKING INVESTIGATION BY THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT THAT HE COULD NOW LEAD
President-elect Donald Trump’s pick for attorney general, Rep. Matt Gaetz of Florida, was once embroiled in a sex trafficking investigation by the Justice Department he’s been tapped to lead, and has been under scrutiny by the House Ethics Committee over allegations including sexual misconduct.
That probe effectively ended Wednesday, though, when Gaetz resigned from Congress.
Gaetz, a staunch Trump defender, has spent years enmeshed in scandals that threaten to derail his confirmation as the nation’s top federal law enforcement officer by the Republican-led Senate.

His colleagues in the House have said dirty Matt , on the House floor, would share pictures of young girls he claimed to have had sex with. Good job, voters!!!

What's the chance that the sexual deviant nominee for AG gets confirmed by the Senate.? No Dems will vote for a pervert . Will four Republicans vote against his confirmation? Murkowski has already said he is not a serious nominee.
Murkowski: " I don't think it is a serious nomination for the attorney general. We need to have a serious attorney general and I'm looking forward to the opportunity to consider somebody that is serious. This one was not on my bingo card. "
Susan Collins has also given indications that she will not vote to confirm. I wouldn't be surprised to see McConnell continue to sabotage anything Trump wants. The Turtle hates the Tangerine Tyrant . That's three potential votes against the perverted Gaetz. Just need one more.
What do you think Hoot? Do you think your Republicans get the sex trafficker through?

I think that I don't care.. At worst, Trump will be able to clearly identify his enemies in the Senate Nobody could be a worse AG than Garland has been. Nobody. This will be a test for Thune. If there is any real evidence against Gaetz, then it will come out in the hearing. If there is none, then it's an opportunity for Gaetz to make his detractors look like idiots.
I don't support sex perverts, which is one of the reasons that I am not a Democrat. If there is real evidence against Gaetz, then I want to see it.

Gaetz has not been accused of any crimes; much less charged with any. No one should respond to OSH posts as long as he keeps lying and name calling, which is all he is capable of. He was borderline unstable under his disastrous regime and will double down on bat sh!t crazy the next 4 years...
Elon has promised to BIGLY fund well organized primaries against any Republican who gets in the way of Trump's agenda. Hope to see Murkowski and Collins replaced by real Republicans next cycle.
The best part is even if it's not Gaetz, it will be somebody else removing all the Dem deep state corruption from the DOJ. So we will still hear all the bubbles popping over OSH's head for AT LEAST 4 years. Make America Great Again!!!!

Collins and Murkowski voted yes to confirm the corrupt Merrick Garland as AG and if they vote no on Gaetz this will be their last term in the Senate. So it's a huge win either way.

I believe that it is safe to assume that all parties involved already know the findings through leaks. Gaetz has resigned from his seat, so the findings will not be publicly released.
MAGA!
If Trump wanted Gaetz to be part of his administration and to sweep the committee's findings under the rug, then he could have simply appointed him to a position that did not require Senate confirmation. This smells like a trap for gullible people, with Gaetz willingly serving as bait.
OTOH, if the committee's findings are disqualifying for an AG,, but fall short of a career ending crime, then Trump can withdraw the nomination, Gaetz can issue a public apology, and Trump can hire him for a lesser position.
Whatever the outcome, I expect Trump already knows what it will be and will emerge stronger politically than he was before the nomination.
No Senate incumbent wants to spend time and money fighting a strong primary challenger. Musk seems to enjoy playing the role of a trump card.

I will be shocked if Gaetz gets confirmation from the Senate. Gabbard and Hegseth are unqualified for their positions and will also have trouble being confirmed. Stefanik is a reach, but Rubio is a pretty solid pick. The others I really don't know much about them, except Huckabee, who is a very difficult person to work with from what I have heard.

I'm not a Rubio fan, but Trump could not put together a worse cabinet than Biden, if he drew names from a hat. Tulsi Gabbard will sail through confirmation, or a lot of Republican Senators will find themselves with well-funded primary challengers in 2026 and 2028.

I don't think it's that complicated. If they had anything on Gaetz they would have indicted him long ago. He resigned.from Congress in a show of strength that everyone is all in on his nomination. Trump wants him as AG and they will make it happen. Any Republican who voted to confirm Garland who votes no on Gaetz will lose their Senate seat. Checkmate. Gaetz will then take a wrecking ball to the hopelessly corrupt DOJ.

Turning Gaetz loose on the thoroughly corrupt DoJ will be extremely entertaining if he gets confirmed by the Senate.

One of the first things that a new FBI Director should do is to investigate the soon to be former Director of Homeland Security, Alejandro Myorkis. If that guy does not have some huge offshore accounts, then there are no corrupt Washington politicians. Myorkis never answers a question in Congressional hearings to avoid committing perjury. He has no peers in evading Congressional oversight through endless filibusters. He could become wealthy teaching seminars on the subject.

I don't like Rubio at all, but at least he will be in a position where Trump can fire him if he strays too far from Trump's agenda.
If I were a Senate Democrat, I would be very tempted to rubber stamp all of Trump's initial nominees and justify doing so by saying that he won a mandate and deserves to have his own team in place. If they think Trump is appointing people who are not up to the job, then let his own team sink him. The fact that so many Democrats will vote against confirming most of Trump's appointments will be a sign that they fear that the appointees would succeed.

Gaetz faces dim path to confirmation
Gaetz is one of the most controversial figures in the House, where he serves on the Judiciary Committee. Known as a hard-liner, he was the Republican who initiated the ouster of former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy.
Gaetz has support from some corners of the GOP, particularly grassroots conservatives, but he has few friends in Congress and would have a difficult time getting confirmed.
"Look, I love President Trump. I support every single one of his picks," Rep. Max Miller (R-OH) told the Washington Examiner Wednesday. "But this one will never get through the Senate. And I would venture to go talk to every single House member out there to see how excited we are that he potentially can be leaving and will never get confirmed."
Miller slammed Gaetz's nomination as a"reckless pick," but said he's "happy that he's out of the House, or will be soon."
Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND) was still processing the choice when asked about his nomination. “That's an uff da," he said, using a humorous Midwestern phrase for when hearing bad news. "Huh, I don't know what to make of it. To be determined."
Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) said she was “shocked by the announcement" in a brief interview, while Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said, “I don’t think it’s a serious nomination for the attorney general.”

As hard as it might be to believe, Alejandro Myorka is ten times worse than Garland and infinitely worse than Gaetz.

Where were your objections to Merrick Garland's politicization of the DoJ? Trump's first AG appointment, Jeff Sessions, ran the department the way it should be run. Now, it has been packed with political activists under the stewardship of Garland. Gaetz, or whoever Trump ultimately appoints, will spend way much time having to clean up the mess that Garland will leave behind.
Have you ever watched Homeland Security Secretary Myorkis in a Congressional hearing? If not, then I strongly you suggest that you do so before you criticize another Trump appointment. Your initial reaction will be that Myorkis is being badgered by Republicans, but if you watch enough of his performances, you will understand why every Republican who has the unenviable task of getting answers to the most basic of questions from Myorkis seems to be in a bad mood. If Democrats in Congress had any honor, they would join with Republicans and send Myorkis packing. In all of the years that I have followed American politics, I have never seen a more worthless cabinet member than Myorkis. He is as big a threat to national security as any individual on the terrorist watch list.

I agree that the report should be released, unless House rules prohibit its public release. If that is the case, then Gaetz can probably decide to authorize its release or ask Trump to withdraw his nomination. However, I am pretty sure that Senators demanding the release of the report came as no surprise to Trump, Gaetz, or most people having a pulse. As I said above, I smell a trap about to be sprung.

The details of the report remains unknown. Gaetz, however, has been marred by scandal since a sex trafficking investigation into him was opened by the Department of Justice in 2021. The feds ultimately decided to not charge Gaetz, but his buddy, Joel Greenberg, pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 11 years behind bars.
The Daily Beast reported in 2021 on a confession letter that was penned by Greenberg in which he claimed that Gaetz had paid him to arrange sex with several women and a 17-year-old girl. The Beast also revealed private Venmo logs which showed that Gaetz sent money to Greenberg and used a nickname for the adolescent.
More recently, court docs emerged in September that alleged Gaetz was at a party in 2017 with a naked high school junior who was there to “engage in sexual activities” while drugs like cocaine and ecstasy were present.

So, you actually believe that the feds had the goods on Gaetz, but decided not to prosecute him? This is the same administration who sent dozens of trespassers to ridiculously long prison terms. (One night for trespassing would have been ridiculous.) That makes no sense to me. The Biden administration would not have hesitated to prosecute Gaetz if they had even a weak case against him, just to further drag his name through the mud.

His political guru, Lichtman, has figured out why he was wrong about the election. He claims that his model failed to predict Trump's victory because of misinformation, misogyny, and racism. Were it not for those three factors, he believes that his prediction would have been spot on.
Like OSH, Lichtman left himself no wiggle room when he made his prediction, and like OSH, he completely ignored the projections of the most accurate pollsters in the previous two elections.

Donald Trump will get an outstanding cabinet confirmed and you can take that to the bank. Whether the new AG is Gaetz, Hawley, Cruz, or some other top tier lawyer, the Department of Justice will soon be throwing going away parties for all of Garland's henchmen. Republicans have a very deep bench.
