Wonder what the average score between the 1 v 4 games was this year?
I’d also love to know what the total revenue v expenses for the games was this year.
I saw scores of 66-0; 70-7; and it looked like almost all of them were running clocks.

Some teams shouldn't even be competing in the playoffs!!
Hek Boyle and Perry agreed before the game that 21 points will be a running clock!! I mean how do you fix this?

I don’t have a problem with six classes. Letting six teams have a claim as a state champion in a sport/season as grueling as football is fine.
I wish baseball and basketball were in classes as well.
To fix football would be so easy….. district winners get a bye; 2 plays 3 in the first round. Those four seeds that want an extra game can schedule each other. Those who have had enough; can inventory equipment and move on to plans for next season.

Of course this will never happen as long as the KHSAA feels like they can squeeze money out of these games.

The problem is the waterd down classes and that’s because we have to many classes for this state. By the numbers there is absolutely no reason to have 6 classes in Kentucky. Going back to 4 classes would make every class more competitive and would also make for a better playoff experience for fans and for the kids(11-10-2024, 12:28 PM)Senters_93 Wrote: Some teams shouldn't even be competing in the playoffs!!You fix it by eliminating the #3 & #4 seeds & only allowing the district champion & district runner up to make the playoffs. Class A average margin of victory:
51-7 in 1 v 4 games;
No four seed winning.
Class 2A margin of victory:
45-9; all 1 seeds winning.
Class 3A:
53-9; all 1’s winning
Class 4A:
52-10; all 1’s winning
Class 5A:
41-9; Montgomery lost as a 1 seed to NL.
Class 6A:
Average score 44-3; Tate’s Creek lost as a #1 to Madison Central the #4.
So, there is a 96% chance that the #1 seed will win these games, across all classes.
If you are a 1A team, you will lose by 44 points; 2A, by 36 points; 3A, by 44 points; 4A, by 42 points; 5A, by 42 points; and 6A, by 41 points.
These margin of victories equate to running clocks as the expectation- not the anomaly.

I said it in another thread, 5 classes makes it where there is a minimum 5 team per district. You gotta win one district game to make the playoffs or sometimes 2. Four teams from every district will make it, but you won’t get teams like lynn camp, perry, berea, floyd central.
You will always have blowouts round 1, but this makes it a reward to make the post season in all classes and will at least eliminate the 0-10 teams in the playoffs against the top teams in the state. KHSAA still makes their money and probably more to be honest with you, who wants to see berea and raceland??? I know from the games i saw this week, gate money is depleted when the suckers go on the road to the monsters round 1.

The reality is, we are closer to having seven classes than five classes because the KHSAA is dead set on everyone making the post season. Right now, there are 224 teams playing football... divide that by 7 and you have 7 classes with 32 teams in each class.

Since it seems KHSAA is set on giving opportunities, perhaps they could give some of these less accomplished teams a play in game against each other.
Make the matches regionally where it wouldn’t be as far to travel.
That would give teams that have earned a right to be in the playoffs a week off, and the others would still get a game.
