Final from Cannonsburg.

Congratulations Pikeville

Boyd is not that good. I’m really surprised that Pikeville gave up what they did

I disagree, Boyd's offense has always been explosive, just inconsistent. And Holbrook is as good as they come. Its their defense that kills them.

Pikeville's running game is an absolute load to stop.

Boyd's team looked more improved over last season. Their passing game was hard to stop, especially in the 2nd half. Pikeville came out on offense looking more like Pikeville. They played with more intensity, more deliberate, and more impressive moving the ball. Still, more to improve on especially defensively against the pass. Stopping the run was solid and consistent. Congrats on the win Panthers!

Boyd is terrible! Pikeville almost had to drop football
#7
Boyd is not terrible on offense. QB is a good athlete. Ran back a kickoff. Pikeville has so many kids hurt. Important pieces. That was the worst crew of officials tonight. Made Raceland crews look SuperBowl worthy.
#8
Must have been like playing at Pikeville . Where you fumble the ball and the referee blows his whistle and says “OUR BALL”!
#9
I actually had an official tonight tell me “I make $85 dollars regardless” like he was proud of doing a chicken shit job.
#10
The next time Pikeville lets someone run a kickoff back for a touchdown I'm going to jump off a tall building while simultaneously punching myself in the face slashing my throat and shooting myself in the head while swallowing a thousand sleeping pills

That actually happened tonight. Boyd fumbled and Pikeville recovered and they gave Pikeville possession.  Moved chains. Then let the teams change personnel. Officials met and then awarded ball back to Boyd. Proud moment for those guys. Officials at Raceland this year weren’t bad except a catch that was 2 steps out of bounds. Thankfully it was short of first down.

Dang! That’s a bit drastic isn’t it?

16th region officiating is bad, very bad. This is compounded by the fact that they have an unwritten but strictly followed modus operandi. .

If you are two programs of equal “respect” playing within the 16th, you will get their “best effort”. A game involving one more highly respected program vs an underdog; all close calls go to the “better program”. If you are out
of region, you’d better not “drop the soap”!!!

Sadly, a lot of those guys were NOT great athletes. But they try to have relevance by pleasuring the top tier programs; getting good end-of-the-season ratings and a couple playoff games; and “hanging out” with the AD’s and coaches and behaving like they are in a frat.

Is it like that in other regions?

Man ROTC you hit the nail on the head there. It’s especially bad at the middle school level where “feelings” still come into play.

It’s even worse in other sports.  I know you guys like to give Raceland grief about getting calls but when we play other 16th region schools in all sports they really don’t like us and to win against those teams we have to be significantly better.

Raceland is now the favorite IMO

You're kidding, right?

I’ve not seen that. They just aren’t very good and over the years all the good ones have since retired or just given it up.
#19
Official shaming is pointless and weak. Its also why any potential good ones don't want to do it.
#20
We’ve lost a lot of officials over these past few years. We were commenting last night in Lexington that we couldn’t remember the last time we had 7 referees at a game.

Right, a lot age out or just don't want to put up with the hate anymore. Then potential new ones hear about much hate there is, and realize its not worth it for the money.  Its not going to get better, but worse.

Problem is the type of guys that were officiating last night at LCA. No one was saying a word directly to the official from the end zone area. Fans were talking, complaining, etc. then he turns and says “I get paid $85 regardless”…shows low character imo. Officials are going to make mistakes it happens. But people are going to gripe about the mistakes as well. You know what you signed up for. It’s one thing to make mistakes, it’s quite another to just be a dick to be a dick…
#23
One thing that would fix all this is if coaches of schools would hold parents accountable for acting stupid. The baseball coach at Raceland handles this situation very well. There isn’t any yelling at umps and if you do you will be asked to leave even if you’re right about the situation. Parents are the problem in this situation. It’s a game for the kids and we need to remember that
#24
We can all do better that’s for sure. But sometimes I wonder if the officials do anything other than buy a striped shirt in order to do the job
