Fairview played hard but were just overwhelmed and didn’t have the players to be competitive. Raceland had a good strategy by using this game as a chance to work on things in the passing game. Unfortunately the next 2 games won’t be much of a challenge either and games like this are why districts need to go away with RPI being used now.

Game went as expected. We have to learn to keep our composure though. 4 personal fouls in the first quarter that were completely avoidable. In the prediction thread I stated that Fairview had a group of scrappy kids that would fight like hell. They did just that. Manning is a very gifted young man as a runner. I think his passing attempts and numbers have over shadowed that. But, like OB said, Fairview simply didn’t have the dudes. Also a tip of the cap to Alex Roy for changing up the game plan and not trying to force the issue on his team. They lived to fight another day because of it. Prayers to the young man who went down with what looked to be a serious injury. Hope and pray for a speedy recovery.

Another embarrassing loss in Westwood. Not sure this staff has the longevity it's gonna take. Anyways hopefully we beat Phelps. That is all scrappy sees left for W's

Fairview coach said kid had a stinger. Was moving arms and legs.

Good to hear. Hope that continues to be the case. Fairview would benefit from dropping out of district play for a year or two. Build some wins and develop some kids. Roy won as a player. He knows what it takes. Gotta close the bleeding of kids out of the program and find a way to get kids to stick around. Fairview had some hard nosed kids, just nowhere near enough of them.

If I’m Alex Roy I’m starting at my little league system and trying whatever I can do to try to build numbers. Then I’m dropping out of district for a few years and scheduling as many for sure wins that I can find. Winning cures everything. Winning increases numbers.

They were also inside the red zone of the Raceland starting defense twice and threatened to score before getting stalled by turnovers. Though you can’t see this from the scoreboard last night was the best I’ve seen Fairview look in this game in several years.

Fairview played hard. Raceland was just to much for them. Hope the young man that was taken off the field last night is doing ok and has a speedy recovery.

I’d say embarrassing is a bit harsh. Even though the first drive was aided by some big penalties, Fairview was taking advantage of them. The other drive got a big play from Manning that took them down to the 5. Raceland hasn’t had a lot of breakdowns defensively this year in any level of the HS team. Freshman, JV, and Varsity defenses have been pretty damn good. So regardless of who the run came on, Fairview went out and fought for them. I thought this was the best Fairview team I have seen in many many years. They just need more kids and they gotta turn the strength and conditioning aspect up a notch.
I agree this is one of there better teams in several years. With the new coach, new complex coming, I think Fairview will be fine moving forward.
I also think, Raceland continues to get better and better. Although the last three games, the defenses the Rams offense has faced has not been that good, the offense has seemed to start to find its stride. Raceland has weapons all over the field. This is a luxury earlier in the season the QB's didn't have. The defense remains to be really good. The guys with less experience is starting to find there stride. This team will be tough come playoff time.

It was more like….hold onto your butts and try to survive. We are just now seeing creativity on the offensive side of the ball. If the Rams can compete wit LCA at the end of the year i believe stand a great chance of ending our season in Lexington again and win or lose …..there’s no complaints in that

As you said earlier in the season we just couldn’t work on those things because we faced some good defenses. Something that was exposed last night was not being able to contain the QB when he decided to run. This may have been due to the defense playing tight coverage and Manning being a good athlete but that was the first real “weakness” I’ve seen from the defense this season.(10-12-2024, 11:39 AM)4th Down Wrote: I agree this is one of there better teams in several years. With the competition he’s been playing against he wasn’t known to run. I would think going into a game knowing that a QB will run. The defense would probably plan for that
