RPI Class 4A
#31
I’m opening up a can of worms here by thinking out loud so to speak but it’s my opinion anyway, Last season Covington Catholic beat Paducah Tighlman 28-14 in the semifinals Boyle beat Covington Catholic 41-0 in the State Championship and it could have been worse, I thought Boyle was probably a 50 point better team than Tighlman last year and I think Boyle is better than they were last year, has Tighlman really made up that much ground food for thought.

Old School I’m not being arrogant I’m just giving an opinion.

I think you raise a good point, Mr. Lambert. In my very humble opinion, if Boyle stays healthy , I don't see PT, or anyone else, being able to stay with them for four quarters. Hell, they went to Cleveland and boat raced the 12th ranked team in the country on their home pasture. Case closed, as far as I am concerned. Paducah versus Corbin might be a good game but Boyle would beat an All-Star team made up of Corbin and Tilghman's best players. Jack, with the team you all have this season, you have every right to be arrogant. lol  Hell, if Corbin had a top 15 team in the nation like Boyle has this season , I would be on here trash talking Mater Dei and telling them to hop on a big bird to Campbell Field and "Come get some."  Smile

PT’s biggest problem, especially in big games is disipline. Boyle has the experience, been there done that, so I fully expect them to repeat. Having said that, PT has the talent to beat ANYONE in 4A

Gap is closing and will continue to do so. See. Everything works itself out by seasons end.

PT's RPI is toast. Check out the class and wins/losses their last opponent on this year's regular season schedule. Boyle will not be travelling to Paducah this year in my humble opinion as long as the Rebels keep winning.

The gap is wider than the gap in your teeth. Boyle ain't losing to anyone. They will beat anyone they play by 4+ TDs.

Was referring to the rpi gap, but go crazy with personal insults. I hope you step on a Lego in the middle of the night.

So can the theoretical RPI be calculated if the top 4 win out now?

If I were a betting man on calculations on rpi and remember this is just rpi

1 Boyle (barely)
2 Franklin
3 Tilghman (Russellville kills them)
4 Johnson central/ashland

Really depends on who wins that district imo.

Cov Cath needs a ton of help. None of the rest in top 10 of rpi can go undefeated.

Really they have to go through Title Town because Boyle and Danville (and other surrounding counties) have combined unofficially to create a tremendous team and program. Then throw in the 5th years seniors and it is one heck of a mix.

And the 5th year seniors are just 18 yrs old. Its not like they are old. Stop acting like other teams don't get transfers. If the Boyle transfers sucked would this even be a conversation ? people are jealous because kids want to play for Justin Haddix, and the Rebels. Haddix can't help that. Quisenberry and Brown are just great football players.

With Ashland likely to lose to Ironton, the home game against Johnson Central will be make or break for the Tomcats. The same goes for Corbin's road game at Johnson Central.

If Johnson Central wins both games and avoids upsets, then they will be in great position entering the playoffs. That won't be easy, but both games are winnable.

Greenup County or Boyd County could really scramble the seeds if either upsets JC or Ashland. I can't remember the district being any stronger than it is this season.

Jack, Boyle has to overtake PT for the top spot, I don't see how they won't. Maybe Im wrong but thats what I see and man, does that put more on the Corbin/JC game to avoid Boyle Round 3.  Smile

If Boyle wins out they should be the number 1 seed, Russellville is going to kill Tilghman’s RPI.

Does it really matter whether you play Boyle in Round 3 or Round 4?   You can crash and burn from 30,000 ft or crash and burn while on the tarmack . Either way, you're just plain dead. Any team is gonna lose by 40 to them, whether it's round 3, 4, or 5. Might as well take the cyanide earlier, rather than later. There's is zero suspense to this season. Boyle blasted St. Edward on their home field. The 4A debate ended on that day.

I sure hope that your right Old School, I don’t think anyone in 4A can beat Boyle but any team can have a bad game with turnovers and such.

I sure hope you are right Bull.  I much rather drive 3 miles to see a game than 5 hours the day after Thanksgiving.  Provide we take care of business the first 3 weeks.  I've found that when it comes to the RPI and you think you have it figured out it slaps you in the face!

I don't know if Boyle is gonna beat Frederick Douglass by 40 points but I do think Boyle will matchup and take care of business. 4A teams are not in the same ballpark as Frederick Douglass and Boyle County this year. Now the championship game or rivalry game will no doubt make a game closer because of emotions or it being the title game and those games are typically lower scores but last year was a exception. Boyle is the favorite and by alot. I do think you are correct on how you explain. I just don't use that method.   Smile  I wouldn't want to be in either of those scenarios.  Big Grin

Yep, Im like you Rebel55, I like to be closer to home during the holidays and especially if we are talking Football game home or away.

Smile Now Old School Hound got the score right last week in a big game. So if he says 40+, then you might want to consider that before you pick lol.
#56
Tilghman with a massive gap now. That will close over the next month as PT plays no team in the top 15 of the rpi in any class the remainder of the season. Boyle will end up at 1 and Franklin will end up at 2.
