The Landscape of College Football

Matthew Sluka deserts UNLV: Unfulfilled NIL promise drives starting QB of undefeated, CFP-hopeful to quit - CBSSports.com

Of course we've heard of holdouts in the NFL due to contract disputes, players wanting more money.

It has finally reached College Football, a holdout DURING THE SEASON! This stuff is beyond out of control.

Link to the article above for those wanting to check it out.

Good for the player. Hopefully he was smart and used US mail for the NIL contract.

...and to think that this news came out of the gambling capital and involved the local QB playing for a historically good team at a pivotal time in conference realignment talks.

Landscape in college sucks and is gonna get worse. I don't blame kids for wanting to get as much money as they can but it's a shame it has come to this. All of sport at every level is being ruined.

^^^^^
1) NIL is 1% of 1% of a drop in a giant bucket compared to how much money has ruined our federal government, BOTH SIDES
2) You know the economy is bad when LAS VEGAS can't cough up a measly 100k bucks lol

UNLV declined to go to the PAC-12, as them & Air Force decided to stay in the Mountain West, obviously a huge blow to the PAC-12.

Also, UNLV is currently ranked in the top 25 for the first time ever, sitting at 3-0.

It's happened again. This time USC DT Bear Alexander has decided to redshirt and enter the transfer portal mid-season.

The reason? Unhappy with playing time! According to the article I just read, he started every game last season but has since been reduced to a back-up role this season. This is ridiculous IMO, and another reason why the landscape of College Football is in a terrible place. The coaches must see something to have him in a backup role, but what does the kid do instead of hitting the adversity head on, working harder to get that starting position back? He takes his ball and goes home.

I don't watch college or professional sports anymore, with the exception of an occasional UK basketball game or Bengals football game. And I can't see me wanting to watch either of those much longer. I'm all but done with the Bungles and a Mark Pope 14-13 UK team doesn't exactly excite me. NIL and transfer portals are the worse things to ever happen to humanity since Scott Baio's mother decided not to abort him.
