I think we find out in this one that Chase Varney is the real deal and may show that he is the better QB in this game. Hoping the Pirates mix it up a little and let this young man shine.

not saying he is better yet but watch his intangibles.  This kid is legit.   Not putting duty down, just saying that Varney very well could  be his equal or better.  Watch the footwork if they throw.  Arm strength is there too.  I hope they both shine.  Duty has struggled this year but could be due to the tough schedule.  We will see friday.

Duty 45/75 for 741 with 5 tds and 5 int’s

Obviously a family member. Sheesh. Varney has thrown as many INTs in 4 games this year as Duty had in all of 2022 and 2023 COMBINED. Career TDs and yardage not in the same league. Duty led Pikeville to 2 state championships and Varney has led Belfry to 2 wins this year over teams with 1 win - winless Lewis Co. You making this game about him in multiple posts tells me all I need to know. But personally I hope Belfry throws it 30 times tomorrow. The more they throw the better chance Pikeville has to win. One more stat, Duty has never lost to Belfry. I will be rooting for Belfry after tomorrow but this argument isn't even an argument lol

He’s not. Varney is a very talented QB in an offense that’s built for QBs to be game mangers only.  The kid can make every throw needed at the high school level and has an abundance of leadership skills.  

He’s every bit the equal to Duty, at the very least.  

Both are very talented kids and I wish them the best.
