Calpreps is outstanding. Very good model that gets better and more accurate as the season progresses.  Spot on at season's end. Big Calpreps fan, here. KHSAA should use Calpreps instead of the ridiculous RPI .

All I know is…..you can’t play on a broken henway
#67
Problem with a broken henway is the added weight.

Hopefully Pikeville figures out why their playing with such of a lack of intensity before long. Panthers Could be looking at a 3-4 win season.

Anthony going out had little effect on the game. He struggled after his long td run. Justice looked good running the ball. You could see JC’s game plan was to just run McCourt right at Anthony and wear him down. One thing that stood out to me was all the bad snaps by Pikeville. Then I started watching the nose for JC. That kid was on a mission to hit the center as hard as he could all night. It definitely worked too. Really the entire line on both sides of the ball for JC was head and shoulders above Pikeville.

If we all just took our wins and losses we wouldn’t have a forum ?. But not my win. I work up and down 23 and see all these teams. After seeing JC last week I thought Pikeville would run through them. JC came out like a different team. Shocked how little speed Pikeville had. But also not sure it’s smart to take a kid and try to play him at linebacker and running back against a team like JC. Their defensive philosophy was literally to keep hitting you till you didn’t want the ball anymore. That’s pass or run.

Nobody from Pikeville "didn't want the ball anymore" sheesh...
You might want to tap the brakes just a tad. JC beat a Class A team and they still have a long way to go to compete in 4A

Didn’t say they didn’t want the ball. But that’s JCs philosophy to stop people. But that type of physical play will wear you down. Yes JC beat a single A team. This doesn’t mean they’re even a too 6 team in 4a. They really don’t look like they are either.

Corbin/JC should be a barn burner.

Smile No offense JC fans but I hope Corbin burns the barn down this time around..... Big Grin A win on the road would be nice!!! In all seriousness, it should be a good one.

Guy said Pikeville doesn’t have any speed. Ok. Don’t know if it was used very much Saturday night but Pikeville has plenty of kids who run well. JC dominated but not sure I understood the stubbornness of Pikeville to keep pounding the run game when JC doesn’t cover great. JC secondary had problems staying with any of the Pikeville receivers. That wasn’t the issue. Gotta have time to throw. Throws gotta be on target. Receivers have to catch it when they are good balls. Not trying to take anything from Central. They spanked Pikeville but speed isn’t Pikeville’s problem.

Elam will pick JC defense apart

Pikeville receivers had a step all night but play calling was suspect.  JC was in man coverage a ton early with little over the top help and Pikeville kept trying to pound the ball.  Stunned

For me Pikeville looked a step slower than they usually do.in their first two games, I felt like there big three, Anthony, Caudill, and Anderson all look a step slower this year. They are all massive, mountain, cornbread eating, weight slinging large ass children and they are crazy strong. But they don’t seem to move as well as they did a year ago. Maybe it’s who they have been playing. Hell JC and Corbin may be better than they are getting credit and this is all a bunch of worry and talk about Pikeville for nothing. But defensively, Pikeville doesn’t look like the same team that flew around a year ago.

Pikeville has a TON of speed and athleticism at WR. They need to utilize it. For me I would think the way they went about things with Hensley, Estep, those type of kids would be affective. As strong as those backs are, Justice included, they are becoming one dimensional it seems.

I think you nailed it honestly. Pikeville looked fine in the game I watched. Credit Corbin for a good opening game game plan. Corbin has a Senior QB that is as good as it gets and that alone is hard for a defense to deal with. Johnson Central went through a down year for them last year. They dealt with injuries and the way the run their offense and alot of those talented players play both ways, so they no doubt came out hungry this year and is very much a dangerous team and they are HEALTHY. I know myself I want to win every game. But some years the tuff teams just are having the year they hoped for. I'll bet Pikeville gets it all lined out to where everyone is happy. Don't get me wrong, they may take another hit to LCA, I seen LCA in person last year and this year and man did they look good. Pikeville schedules a gauntlet in my book. I really wouldn't worry too much about a few losses. It's what Pikeville will do in 1A that will speak volumes of the first part of a tuff schedule. I think Pikeville and LCA will have a barn burner myself. It will come down to the wire. I think. They both look similar this year.

We've also have to take into consideration three O linemen that graduated who were experienced and very good. That's three linemen with limited experience especially in big games with 4-A teams. Knowing coach Mac and staff, these new linemen will improve daily. They need to for sure. Taking a look at the O line Saturday night, they looked conditioned enough and held up good for four quarters against a bigger school.  Agree, they did look a step slower than JC, but again that needs to improve. This  team has tons of talent, no doubt. Its just a matter of it all being sorted out as the days fly by.

Pikeville cannot throw the football. That’s how you beat JC

Some good points there Bull. I remember in 2022 Pikeville went down to Corbin and left with an L. Although a smaller margin of loss than this season. Then the next week they met Cov Cath in the PCB ending with another L. It took off from there with all wins and a tough schedule all the way to Kroger Field and state championship #7. You never know, we just might see this team back at Kroger in early Dec.

Even with their struggles…they are still the favorite until someone in single A beats them again.

Hoot Gibson just texted me. He's back to talking Hoot smack. Says JC will not lose another. Says they beat Boyle going away by 4 scores in the title game.

Once JC realizes you dont have something covered.. they are gonna gash you over and over... Glad to see them playing well.

Pikeville is mediocre at best.lol
