I’ve been waiting for them to make there schedule tougher, but this is the toughest it’s been besides when they had Pikeville n Hazard as district opponents. 3 solid teams to play. Ludlow, Bracken and Bethlehem.

Sayre has never proved they are a top Class A team. Every time they play a top team they get drilled. They didn't magically learn to stop the run since their last 443 given up to Raceland and their awful schedule won't teach them how either. And do you think Raceland magically forgot how to run the football just because they had a big senior class last year?

Nope not forgot how to run the ball. Just won’t be well seasoned n experienced to do so. Too many studs back there last season that won’t be back there this season.

Sayre beat a solid Paris team last year. Ludlow wasn’t a bad team either. They are Power houses, but a solid team.

No one expected them to beat Paris last year except me. That wasn’t even close as Sayre smoked them.
Paris? PARIS?????????????????????

Like I said, they are going to have to beat somebody.

Paris played Raceland tough for 3+ quarters last season. They was solid. It’s possible Paris may be even better with what they’ve added in the transfer portal…
43-13
Raceland 459 yards
Paris 146 yards

You're killing me bac, you're g d killing me.

Class A needs more good teams. I want to see Paris and Sayre get better and Hazard, Paintsville, NCC and Middlesboro too. And others.

Yes that was the final. But go back and watch the game. Yes close doesn’t count except in horse shoes. But Yes I want to see all those teams get better. But here you go as an example from last year. Wasn’t Middlesboro, Campbellsville pretty solid last year? Yes they were. The rest of the Class 1A can’t help that Pikeville seems to be a step ahead.

But let’s get back to Raceland 2024. The Rams will probably takes some Ls this season. The main thing for them is to not get down n lose morale. Let’s also not forget teams will have down seasons. Some may be worse than others, but some end up better than expected, but expect Raceland to be ready to give it hell every game.

TBF it was 14-13 with 2 or 3 minutes to go in the 3rd when raceland caught a ball in the parking lot on 4th and 15 and was ruled complete.  That's here nor there, Paris was a solid team, they beat rockcastle at home which would've been playing at Commonwealth for 3a state if it wasn't for the jacked up RPI. I don't know how well they are coached, but they will have the talent to be the 2nd best team in 1a.

Raceland is the 1a version of Corbin, if someone from Alabama rolled in these chats they'd think Raceland and Corbin had a combined 50 state championships in the last 30 years.  The reality is they have zero, and raceland has zero in the history of ever, and only 1 appearance (last year) that I can think of ... ever. So you're right, throw raceland in there with others, I'd love to see Raceland show some consistency and be decent for a few years in a row, it would be good for 1a football.
Dang it bac, 30 points and 300+ more total yards isn't in any way close. It's a rout.
But I think you and I want the same things for Class A...

I don't doubt that a bit lol!
I haven’t talked about my thoughts coming into the season and wanted to drop my 2 cents real quick. I think this is going to be a serious learning curve year for what will be the youngest team Raceland has had in a few years. The trick with this team is how they will respond to adversity especially after starting the season with a few potential lopsided losses. Here are my predictions for the schedule.

Ashland: 3-4 TD loss
Letcher: Toss up
Pikeville: 3-4 TD loss
Highlands: 1st Half Running Clock Loss
NCC: Toss up
Hazard: Toss up
Fairview: Running Clock Win
Paris: Should win but could lose
Nicholas: 3-4 TD Win
LCA: Running Clock Loss

I am not trying sound like a total pessimist but the reality is this could be a 5-5 season at best or 3-7 at worst. The trick to managing this season is to keep morale up especially after those first few tough games. I also think a game will be lost that everyone feels like should have been won. If that happens that could be a push that breaks the team for the season.

That being said I think the primary focus this season should be developing younger players for the next few years. Obviously everyone wants to win and have a deep playoff run but realistically I don’t see that in the cards for the 2024 Rams. If I am wrong I will happily eat my crow in November.
14-13 Burg at the half. Look a lot better this evening than last week. Consistency on offense in the run game. Passing game is improving. Really bad penalties though. Around 70 yards for the Rams.
Raceland will go 5-5 or 6-4 in the regular season but they will be battle-tested. I believe they'll be back at Kroger again.
How’d it finish out?

Wheelersburg 28 Raceland 13

21-13 Varsity. Raceland really did a lot of moving around though. In all 3 Varsity quarters., there were almost two completely different OLs used on seperate drives and we were also without our #1 and #2 receiver. I have no clue the prognosis but they were supposedly going to be back by Monday.

There is arguably a better stud back there this year than last year. Probably should have had more touches last year as a freshman.

This scrimmage was much better than last week. Seemed to have a little bit more of a clue this week. If this team keeps learning and getting better each week they will be back at Kroger again this year
I agree. The growth between scrimmages was really surprising.
Did raceland use two quarterbacks?
Not in the sense that it is a “two QB system”, but yes, Both QBs saw time in the varsity portion of the scrimmage. Waller took all of the JV reps.

Assland will be the most athletic team we play all year. They will have the best player that we will face all year. They are the better of Belfry and Wheelersburg. It’s gonna get ugly in Ram land on Friday. I hope I’m wrong but….we will see
