Ok, enough about Prestonsburg's great season and incredible run.  They had a losing record, and their "incredible run" was the luck of the draw.  Their baseball trophy case is just as empty now as it was at the beginning of the season.

So you're saying LC is in a weak district?  The same district that includes the great and powerful Blackcats?  I think we may have found common ground.

No one here has ever said Prestonsburg was great and powerful. But keep thumping your chest because you beat them. Obviously that meant more to you than, you know, actually playing for a regional championship.

Nothing wrong with congratulating a team on a great season, they may have had a losing record and you said "luck of the draw", but you play who you play, that is out of their control. Remember seeing some comments that the winner of Pburg-JC would make it to the Championship, and the ones that said that on here seemed to be right. is that luck? 

But I digress, again congrats to Pikeville on repeating as championships. Also congrats to Pburg on a great season, and an incredible run to the championship game.

First: Lawrence was in the 57th beginning in 2006. They were either the district champ or runner up and in the region in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014. They won the region in 2008, 2009, 2011. So to assume that Lawrence is "scared" of the 57th is not logical. Their record during that time against Paintsviille (counting district and regional tourney) is 11-9. Their record against Johnson Central (counting district and regional tourney) is 8-12. Since moving out of the district (starting in 2015), their record against Paintsville is 13-10, and against Johnson Central it is 9-6. 

Second: It was not Lawrence's choice/decision to move out of the 57th. When realignment was presented, it was actually another 57th district team that was approached and asked to join another district to even them up and get rid of one 5 team district and join a district with only 3 teams. When that team absolutely refused, they asked Lawrence. 

Thirdly: If Lawrence had stayed in the 57th, the fact is that the regional tourney would have been weaker and much easier. Take that how you would like, but it is true. There would have been a runner up in the 60th or the 58th that would not have been as competitive. 

Lastly: The best team won the region, hands down. The draw was very one-sided and things need to be looked at to ensure the best possible outcome. Maybe it was this year, but maybe not. Seeding would be nice instead of relying on a "blind draw" to determine it. College baseball finds a way, why can't high school?

Congrats Pikeville and my lifelong/childhood friend and teammate in all sports, Coach Shane Simpkins. It’s a shame our own Alma mater has had the opportunity to hire him more than once and didn’t do it. Now they get to sit back and watch him enjoy the success as the head coach at one of our biggest rivals. He’d be a fool to ever leave Pikeville, and as long as he’s there, they will be a Top 3 team every year, at worst.
