Was 2014 the year Somerset went 0-10 and almost upset Valley in round 1?

Yes

I like Shelby Valley in this one in a wild one

Shelby Valley 42
Somerset 35

Shelby Valley's defense is my biggest concern. Somerset has a good ground game and a respectable passing game as well. Jumpers also play good defense. Shelby Valley has a balanced attack that can be very explosive. Wildcats can't afford to turn the ball over against this Somerset team.

Should be a fun game to watch... First one to 35 wins.

Which team is more athletic? Shelby Valley has good size in the lines and their offense is wide open. How is their team speed?
#8
Somerset at home is the advantage. Briar Jumpers by 7.

Classy? Have you ever watched a Shelby valley game? All they do is stat pad/run the score up on below average football teams. Not to mention how dirty they play anyways.
#12
Classy? Ask Coach Hager at FC, he might have a different outlook. BUT, with that being said:

Wildcats by 2 scores, their can put up big numbers quick and they're clicking at the right time
#13
Somerset by a 2-3 scores. This is not the teams they play during season. Only common opponent is Perry, which blowout SV and Somerset technically beat Perry via khsaa after the officials left during play.
Somerset is to fast, and better in over most positions. Beating up on small schools, with weaker programs may look good on paper, but in reality it sends you home early in the playoffs, BUT anyone can win any given night.

This will definitely be the best team Shelby valley has played

He did also say that they play dirty.  If that's true, and I have no idea if it is, then that is on the players.

For what it's worth, Calpreps has this one 35-26 Somerset on a neutral field.

Hope the Valley gets the win but Somerset is playing at home advantage Briar hoppers
#18
Kinda funny that if they win, somerset will make it farther in the playoffs than Corbin will lol
#19
Why is that funny ?

Has Somerset ever lost in a regional title game? I know Coach Lucas and his staff were 7-0 in regional title games, it seems like I remember an odd anecdote that they have never lost in a regional finals game.

Went and checked on the KHSAA site. The only region title loss since '98 was to Belfry in 2007. That was the first year of the 6-class system and Somerset was in 3A, they opted to play up IIRC. Jay Cobb would have been the HC.

I’m only a spectator who has a kid that plays. They’ve been fun competition over the years. I don’t think there has ever been hard feelings and I’ll always root for area teams.

Shelby Valley's defense in the rematch against Floyd Central showed progressive improvement. Somerset is not Floyd Central, but may have problems. I look for a close game in this one.
#26
Somerset… more big game experience.

Shelby Valley struggles to stop most team. East Ridge and Floyd Central put 30 on the board against them. If somerset can stop them a few times they can score enough points to win this one. I’m going with Somerset

In that case, I say Somerset. I trust their defense and have a lot of respect for the Hughes brothers.

Russ is tough but don’t think it’ll be tough for Valley to win. Somerset 38-24

The long drive to Elizabethtown probably took a toll on them but its hard for me to get past that game when looking at Shelby Valley. Elizabethtown is way down too. It's just one game and hopefully an outlier. I like both these programs so I don't care who wins. I feel like Somerset is the more consistent and well-rounded team. If SV's offense takes care of the football, I think they could have a shot.
