Cathedral (IN) vs. Frederick Douglass 9/23
#1
The Cathedral High School "Fighting Irish" from Indianapolis Indiana come down to Lexington to take on the Frederick Douglass Broncos at "The Farm" on Friday the kickoff is set for 7:00pm. Cathedral is 3-2 coming into the game and is the #7 ranked team in the state of Indiana, and the #5 ranked team in 6A. Their two losses were to the #3 and #6 ranked teams in the state. The are led by QB Danny O'Neil who is a University of Colorado commit.

Frederick Douglass comes into this game coming off a tough 6-0 loss to a very good Corbin team on the road. Douglass is 2-2 coming into this one. The Broncos will also be playing without one of the better players on defense in Zuri Madison the Arkansas commit who was ejected in the Corbin game as well as offensive lineman Jalen Johnson.

This is a huge challenge for the Broncos, but this is why they upgraded their schedule. Games like these will help prepare the Broncos for the 6A post season. The game will be available on the NFHS Network as well as the Gilcod Sports game of the week.

Bio Med HS doesn’t have a cupcake season any longer. Don’t have to play all the weak Lexington schools and a weak district like they use to. 4 L season.

Cathedral 28 Douglass 14

Cathedral has as a strong team that is fundamentally sound on both offense and defense. Unless Frederick Douglass's starting QB returns for this game, then Cathedral should win by a couple of scores.

16thBBall Fan, when is FD's QB expected back from injury?

Rooting for Douglass over the Catholics. I'm going with Freddy D. They have one stout defense. Make it 2 for 2 against the Pope.

It seems to be a secret. He was benched against X, was in full gear and warming up vs Hoban and Trinity, and then the past two games has been in street clothes.

Missed opportunity there for Douglass. Had a look at a pick in Cathedral territory. Two plays later, O'Neal hits his receiver in a seam and he glides untouched for the touchdown.
Cathedral scores on their first possessions a 55 yard touchdown pass by Colorado signee Danny O'Neal he through all 5 plays with only one incomplete pass that was almost a pick 6 but was not and now it is 7-0 Cathedral early in the first quarter.

This is a two year contract with Douglass and Cathedral so the Broncos will be heading up to Indy next season.

Cathedral takes advantage of the short field after a blocked Douglass punt and get their 2nd touchdown and now lead 14-0 early in the 2nd quarter.

The Broncos get a big touchdown from Strautman to Chenault to make it 14-7 Cathedral with 3:18 left in the first half.

Douglass gets a 35 yard FG from Ranvier to make it 14-10 Cathedral with 14 seconds left in the first half. Douglass will get the ball to start the 2nd half.

Cathedral onside kicked and got the ball to start the 3rd quarter. Then QB Danny O'Neal had a QB keeper for a 40 yard touchdown and only 10 seconds into the 3rd quarter. Cathedral now leads 21-10.

Douglass had a nice drive stopped with an interception at the Cathedral 2 yard line.

Douglass defense steps up big time with a safety for the defense to make it now 21-12 Cathedral with 7:47 left in the 3rd quarter.

Touchdown Douglass they take advantage of the safety and get great field position and turn it into a touchdown to now make it 21-19 Cathedral with just over 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter.

Big game on defense tonight for LB Darion Neal he got the Bronco safety and just caused and recovered a Cathedral fumble.

21-19 Cathedral after 3 quarters.

Douglass just got a horrible spot on a 4th down run and Cathedral takes over on downs that hurt.

Touchdown Cathedral after the 4th down stop to now make it 28-19 with 7:38 to play.

Strautman throws an interception on a 4th and 4 from the Cathedral 30 yard line. That may do. The Broncos have had 3 turnovers in the 2nd half.
