Ok, what would you do in this situation?
Say you and a friend are on a bridge. And there is a train about to drive off a cliff. The only way to stop the train is to throw something off the bridge in front of the train. There is nothing around you and no time to spare. Would you:
A) Throw yourself down onto the tracks stopping the train and saving hundreds of people but killing yourself
B) Throw your friend down into the trains path saving hundreds of lives, but killing him
C) Let the train drive off the cliff killing hundreds of people.
???

I would jump off the bridge into shark infested waters using my friend as bait. There is more blood and destruction this way. lol

Looks like that train is S.O.L.
02-22-2005, 10:58 PM
A

Bye Bye Train.....
02-22-2005, 10:59 PM
Bye Bye Friend

I wouldn't jump or throw the friend because most likely the train will still crash and if either one of you go over your dead for sure. At least in the train the people have a slight chance. Just like in a trauma situation you have to triage and go with the ones that have the best chance of survival and in this case its you and your friend. You never want to be a dead hero. You don't trade lifes.

No, let's just say in this case it will stop.

C..someone has to be selfish here...
02-23-2005, 02:28 AM
Not the answer I expected from you BGG.
02-23-2005, 02:48 AM
really?
02-23-2005, 02:50 AM
Probably C

Yup. But that just goes to show ya that people can be full of surprises
02-23-2005, 02:57 AM
Are you being serious?
02-23-2005, 03:00 AM
Yeah I'm serious.. I took you more for a B, and maybe an A person
02-23-2005, 03:02 AM
I'm going to agree with CD. The train is S.O.L.
02-23-2005, 03:03 AM
For one, I'm not into the whole suicide thing...I'll let nature take its course and let God decide what should happen to those people. I'll let destiny decide...I am not going to intervene..so thats why I chose C...
02-23-2005, 03:08 AM
That makes sense. But would that really be considered suicide?
02-23-2005, 03:12 AM
In my eyes, yes it would. It is not up to me to decide...I wouldnt intervene with fate...I think things are meant to happen...Kind of gives you a different way of thinking about the whole question...
02-23-2005, 03:15 AM
Haha ok look at it this way.. Being that you were there and you knew it was going to crash, why wouldn't intervening be your fate. It would be hard to think of that as a coincidence. Knowing that you could save lives...
I don't want to turn this into a religious discussion but, Jesus knew he would die, but he came and died for all mankind. That wasn't suicide.

If I am making a conscious choice to do something then I have free will and I am choosing to intervene with fate even though I was given the information...
Are you wanting to argue with me?
Are you wanting to argue with me?
02-23-2005, 03:25 AM
Who me? argue? never. what a proposterous thing to say lol.
So what you are saying is even though you just happen to be at the site of a wreck you know is goin to happen, but you have no idea why, and you also know that you have three choices, but in either choice someone must die, you would take the mass over the minimum?

Maybe I have a different outlook...
I can tell you this much...and if I sound selfish then so be it...I'm not dying unless there is someone I love involved...Im not leaving my kids under my own circumstances...Someone would have to kill me first...I dont care about the consequences...

That's the reason I thought you would pick A or B... I wasn't trying to make you out to be selfish or anything like that.. It's just I had a feeling you had some love in ya lol. But thanx for the discussion, it was fun lol
02-23-2005, 03:38 AM
I'd go with C. Because none of my friends or family would ever ride a train.
02-23-2005, 03:40 AM
C

First of all, A is out.
B might be an option, especially if I have a camcorder with me. But first I would have to sort some things out in my head.
1. Does my friend owes me money? This is very important.
2. Can I pick pocket him while throwing him off the bridge.
3. Is my friend female.
4. If so, is she (A) the kind of female I'd really like to throw off a bridge? Most females fall into this category.
5. Or (B) the type of female I'd like to get romantical with?
6. If B, then what are my realistic chances of actual romatical action?Anything over 5% is a green light in my book.
7. Is there time for the romantical action and still throw her off the bridge? This could be a win-win situation.
By this time the train is probably at the bottom of the ravine.

Hahah you make some interesting points BM lol.
02-23-2005, 07:30 PM
if this was speaking of a Gun involved and i knew some would get shot i would throw my self infront of them b/c i know i still have a chance of living. But a train that could kinda get nasty and gross. I would prob say the train is out of luck also b/c im not the suicide type anymore. yes id consider this suicide even if u MAY save lives. I have alot to live for right haha unless god was like u need to save these ppl then i would.
02-23-2005, 09:33 PM
You may consider it suicide, but it is the ultimate sacrifice. Im still going with C.
