I am very disappointed in this thread so you you Ram posters won’t kick it up a little I will the Rams are going into Letcherville and win this game even though they know they are not getting any breaks in this one they will still win and yes Shelby Valley has a good quarterback but he isn’t Lundy and with his stable of running backs and receivers they will score some points and their defense will win the game for them because they will get a lot of stops on Letcher now with all that how did I do RAMDAD50

Ashland was on our backfield a lot last week and it was hard to get a running game going. We have some solid skill players but we are going to have to find ways to stretch the field out and get the ball out of Lindy’s hands quickly to have consistent success on offense. This Ram team is good but not like they were last season and I’m still not sold on being undisputed #2.

I've got distant kinfolk who came from Letcher Co. and went North when the mines shut down. Having said that, I still want the RAMS to take the Cougars to Suplex City.
RAMS by (2) TD's.

I got a question Blaze why don’t they put those big backs and Lundy in the back field and run the football of the edge and matter of fact that’s what I would have done against Pikeville in the championship game and tried to ground out first downs and used the tight end as the throw to guy and then use your basic offense at times

The philosophy seems to be to beat teams with speed. This works until you run into someone who has more strength and can match your speed. As for developing a tight end, I’ve always thought not having one has been a major weakness in our game and limits what we can do offensively.

We are gonna give up a lot of long touchdowns this year due to the lack of any over the top help. When you play better competition you can’t play man all over the field. I hope the coaches see that this season and realize we have to change our defensive approach. If we don’t….we are wasting our time playing better competition cause we will got both but losses from it.(08-22-2023, 02:57 PM)Patriot1 Wrote: I got a question Blaze why don’t they put those big backs and Lundy in the back field and run the football of the edge and matter of fact that’s what I would have done against Pikeville in the championship game and tried to ground out first downs and used the tight end as the throw to guy and then use your basic offense at timesThat’s a question that I don’t have an answer to lol. I can see where we’ve changed some things in our rout running. I believe we are on the right track there but defensively we really need to rethink some things

Well when a team knows their players they have to adjust to what they can do best but I do believe in changing coverages during the game but when you leave those corners out on the pedestal you better get a pass rush from someone and if they watch enough film they know where to bring the pressure from or should know because it’s hard for high school athletes to cover one on one but if they can do it for 3 or 4 seconds someone should be making the quarterback nervous

To have a chance to win Letcher will have to dominate the lines of scrimmage. That’s the only way to keep up with Racelands good Qb and skill players. If Letcher doesn’t have a significant advantage up front it will be a long night for the cougars. Letcher starts a freshman QB so the line has to perform.

I’ve seen some pretty cool sets in practice. Haven’t seen them in a game though. Hopefully we will start seeing them as the season progresses. It really would help the line as they develop. I saw growth in the Ashland game from start to finish. More so than I have maybe ever seen. Both teams had to play on the same field, but the light situation drastically changed the entire atmosphere and made it seem almost like we were playing a 40 yard scrimmage set up. I don’t know if it changes the outcome but it definitely changed the score. At the end of the first quarter I was expecting a shootout with how electric the stadium was. Both teams were amped up.
Onto this week…Raceland has the advantage at the skill positions. Letcher, on paper at least, looks to have the advantage upfront. I think this game comes down to their DL vs our OL. Lundy doesn’t need but a few ticks to get the ball out. If we can give him 3 seconds, he will pick teams apart. Which should open up things in the box. That’s really the only reason I don’t think you see us going to a full house set. We have to spread the field to open up the box. We aren’t build to play a 7 on 7 run game lol

Thought this was a tossup but today's Pikeville paper said SV starting RB got hurt and was out vs LCC and it disrupted SV offense. Advantage Raceland maybe but not a sure thing by any means.

If Raceland is a legit contender to challenge Pikeville, and it appears they probably are, then they need to take care of business against Letcher County. Letcher County seems to be building a solid program slowly but surely and they have a beautiful facility.
Regardless the Panthers and Rams will meet in a few weeks and we will see where the 2 teams stand head to head but to have a realistic chance to beat the Panthers then Raceland should win by a few scores this weekend.
Letcher County is building a solid program that will only continue to get stronger in the years to come but Raceland needs to make a statement and I'm going with the Rams 34-20

Raceland is most definitely #2 in 1A. It's still going to come down to them and Pikeville. The only question is when and where. It's Raceland vs the RPI the remainder of the season. Where are their RPI raising wins going to come from? Letcher County Central, a decent 4A team who may win a few games, is the best chance they have left on their schedule.
Fairview, Nicholas County, and Paris aren't any good.
Hazard already has a bad loss to Martin County.
Newport Central Catholic already has a loss to Lloyd Memorial.
Pikeville is the team the Rams are chasing.
Raceland isn't beating Highlands or Lexington Christian.
The Letcher County Central game is a big game for the Rams.

RPI isn’t a waste of time at all. Everybody wants to be playing at home until the finals.
Way too early analysis: Raceland has to beat Pikeville at Pikeville (not likely) or hope Pikeville loses to JC LCA and Belfry all 3.
