I'll be rooting for Reed as soon as he morphs into a different cat. I'll be thrilled if he has anywhere close to the career that Andrew Taylor has had.

Reed will more than likely be treated pretty rough at UK. I look for him to transfer to someplace like Virginia where his skills would be appreciated

Was surprised by how much Llewellyn played off the ball tonight. How many did he finish with?

Very hard to compare a career in the majors with a career in the minors.

Taylor has had a very nice college career at Marshall and I believe He could have helped Ky as well, but he would have been a role player that probably would have played occasionally if he had played for Ky… Hats off to Andrew for what he has done at Marshall, I have watched him play a few times and really enjoyed watching him play.

Charles Thomas
Richie Farmer
Reed Sheppard/Andrew Taylor is too close to call. Those are the best 4 I’ve seen.
Phil Cox has something to say too. That’s likely the top 5 I’ve seen.

What a beatdown of the pups in their hometown. Couldn’t even make it a somewhat competitive game. 33 points? Embarrassing…
Golden Boy and friends set a 13th Region Tournament championship game record with that margin of victory…

Being a Corbin fan, I had to root against Richie's team a lot of the time, but gosh I enjoyed watching him play. Same for Andrew and Reed. What a privilege it is to get to watch generational talent like those guys. We've been fortunate to be able to enjoy those guys. Best of luck to Reed. Hope he has a GREAT college career.

I would love for that to happen but would be very surprised if anything of Reed's hangs from the ceiling of Rupp. I hope is still around Lexington in four years but he may end up teleporting himself elsewhere if he's not satisfied 5 or 6 minutes a game. Do you think he will get more minutes than Thiero? Who do you think will be more impactful a year from now, Shep or Thiero?
I like Reed a lot but , when all is said and done, he will probably be remembered as the third best UK player in his family.

Andrew Taylor better college player. Reed overall better high school player. One on one Andrew Wins 9-10. Reed just a much better team player. I’m still beside myself, I sit directly behind Corbin bench last night and I never seen so many forced shots in all my life. North played team ball last night and wore the hounds out. Down 34 points at end of 3rd quarter and we just shot and shot and shot and shot some more. Congrats to the Jaguars for spanking the Hounds in Corbin. Next year Corbin cuts the nets down.. I’d love to know the hounds shooting percentage last night especially in 2nd half when we was shooting like we was up 30 instead of down 30. Smdh..

Opinions vary on Reed Shepherd around the 13th region but it’s pretty obvious that great basketball minds around the country think very highly of the kid so much so he happens to be the first McDonalds AA ever in our region… I happen to believe Reed will be a great college player as well, time will tell who is a better judge of talent (Black Bear Cuz or Old School Hound) On another note I believe HC will be cutting the nets down at the Arena next year, not the Hounds.. Another difference of opinion with OSH…

No love for my man, Mr Bad Apple, Mr KY basketball, Mr SEC Tourney record eight three-pointers, the Black Sheep of the Corbin family, Mr Rick Jones???
A lot of people sleep on Ryan Davidson as well. The kid is a flat out player. He and Reed are similar to Russ Chadwell and Richie back in the Day. Richie got all the glory and deservingly so. Richie was probably the more complete player a la Sheppard but Chadwell, like Davidson may actually been the better player for what the team did and more valuable in the grand scheme. Either way it was a great problem to have for Bobby Keith and Nate Valentine.
I had totally forgotten about Rick. Rick was a helluva player but where he transferred after his sophomore year people leave him off the list. Michael Jones and Coach P deserve to be on the all time list as well as Lewis Morris from Cumberland back in the 80's.

I think that's probably accurate about Reed and Taylor. Also, Corbin did the exact same thing last time the two teams met-rushed shot after rushed shot after rushed shot. Shot 22 % in the second half ; 24% for the game.

Yep. Terrific player. All-SEC player if I remember correctly.

Declaring Taylor a better college player than Reed who is still playing high school ball makes zero sense. I hope you guys don't bet on sports lol. And when Reed does take the floor in college it will still be comparing apples and oranges. Reed will be in the majors and Taylor will be playing 3A or 2A ball. Put another way Reed will be playing for the NY Yankees and Taylor will be playing for the Toledo Mud Hens.

Mike Jones on that list u tripping. Yes he had a lot of assist but he was playing with Charles Thomas and Tod Cox. Nick Sanford need to be on the list.

So... back to the game. Corbin looked overmatched all night. Wondering if their first round game against Harlan County was more of an outlier. Was surprised by how much they played Llewellyn off the ball, but I'm sure there was a reason.
Best of luck to North Laurel going forward. I'd think that they're Royals fans tonight. I've been watching most if the 2nd Region Tournament and think Hopkinsville can give Lyon County all they want and then some if they play well. Very small but quick and they shoot it well. They play a lot of five-out. From a stylistic standpoint, Covington Catholic wasn't a terrible matchup for North Laurel, but the winner or Newport and Cooper won't really be experienced in Rupp, which can also mean a lot. After what looked to be a terrible draw early, North Laurel still has a chance to be there Saturday morning if they're playing their best and able to catch some breaks.
This.
The formula for beating North as another 13th Region team definitely involved being able to score with them. Slowing them down only worked for South for so long and did not work at all for Corbin.

Corbin's play last night reminded me of KY's abysmal performance against Georgetown and Ewing back in '84, I believe i was. The Cats shot 9% in the second half(3-33) and no starter made a FG in the second half. Were scoreless about ten mintes into the half. Shot 24% for the game, same as Corbin last night. Simply abysmal performance.

Reed makes the kids that play around him so much better. That's not something that really shows up in the stat sheets. I hope he's successful at UK but I'd hate to see his talent wasted on the bench. Transferring to a school where he can shine and show off his ability might be the better step for his future if he plans to make a living playing basketball. I had a debate with someone on here a few seasons ago when they said corbin was just as much a basketball school as a football school. Can't believe there's anyone out there that would actually believe that. Corbin is a football school hands down, there's no comparison.
