Didn’t this Belfry Sr class win the County as 8th graders? How are they this bad? I’m thinking the Freshman group and the current 8th grade group have now also won the Pike Co championships. Will these groups translate to better basketball at the high school level for Belfry or will the results be similar that you are seeing for this present senior class? Just curious as to why it doesn’t translate to any high school success?
As for Robinson, what an amazing performance. Heck of a game for that young man.

Belfry plays no defense. I was at the game. 107 points is the most points BELFRYS BOYS BASKETBALL HAS GIVEN UP IN ITS HISTORY. BRODY ROBINSON IS THE BEST GUARD IN THE 15TH REGION. SCORED 59 POINTS, HAD 4 DUNKS & SCORED HIS 2000 CAREER POINT.

Sal Dean was the MVP for that team in middle school, he is now at Chapmanville (WV). I believe the Brown kid is the only player left from that team that played meaningful minutes. The Banks twins had left for Pikeville before the county tournament, but only one still plays basketball and he sat out this game.

That sr class team was ran off because of transfers that were brought in.

They beat my cousin and Pikeville in the title game.

I haven’t watched many Pikeville games this year and have watched very few Belfry games.

The trajectory of both programs are very different and the talent, outside Sammons at the middle school level, has been better for Belfry the past 7-8 years.

Yeah losing Dean was probably a big hit. So in your opinion with what will be back to back county champion classes on the roster the next few years, will Belfry basketball be trending up and win a region or two?

I don't know if they win a region, but I think the only way they can go from here is up. I do believe IF, and that's a big if, the middle school team stays together through high school they could be very good and maybe win one.

I have a hard time believing all the middle schoolers go to high school at Belfry if middle school staff doesn’t go with them. I can’t see administration at Belfry allowing that. They are big reason program is in the shape it is.

Yes sir. You’ve hit mail on head. They hire Charles and Rash, what does Varney do if they don’t hire him? Or they hire Varney and don’t hire Charles and Rash?

Rumors swirling Rash and Charles, with Weddington, going to Phelps. Also swirling the Varneys, Woolums, and Burke going to Mingo, Martin, or Johnson Central.

Can’t see any going to Martin or Johnson. My money would be on Mingo.

Varneys wont leave. They will talk like it but at the end of the day they are Belfry through and through. Rash, Weddington, and Jude will make a move. Administration at Belfry High School won’t make any major changes. Hearing Deskins will be joining the boys staff next year.

Let me add Varney should be on the sideline in some form in my opinion. He can relate with the players and always think his teams play hard for him.
