Acknowledgment of Gratitude
#1
I just wanted to post this morning to bring attention to the things that "really matter".

Harlan County is geographically positioned to where we aren't very close to some of the schools that we normally play during the year.  So we travel a lot.

Some of the closest schools to us are Harlan city, Pineville & Bell County (35 miles) and Middlesboro and Letcher County (aprox 45 miles).  These are probably our biggest rivals that have developed over the years.

This week one of our student athletes, who participates in multiple sports, became ill during a work out.  I don't want to share his name or the details regarding his condition; that's HIS story to tell.  But I will say that his condition was life threatening; to the point where he stopped breathing.  He was ultimately intubated, and rushed to UK Hospital.  Things were looking very serious and unknown.  Two conditions that put mothers in the P&P mode (panic and protect)!!

Prayers started flying up!! It seemed like everybody was asking questions and genuinely concerned with his progress.

Last night Harlan County played Harlan city.  Bell County and Middlesboro also had a game.  These three teams, some of our bitterest rivals, paid special tribute to this young man during their contest.  It really humbled me, and focused on the things that really matter in life.

So I just want to acknowledge the efforts of these teams and everyone who offered support, prayers and concern.  It really bridged rivalry gaps.

It also appears that this young man will be released soon to come home.  So now, prayers of appreciation and thankfulness are in order.

Thank you rivalry teams!!!

Sports are much more than a game and teaches kids a lot about life and they way things are supposed to be handled. Hope the young man gets better and will pray for him!
If you need any assistance or want to report a problem feel free to PM me and we will get it taken care of!  Thank you for choosing to be apart of the BGR community!

That's because they are my cousins.
