Is that your opinion or you know that for a fact? But I have to say this, you say I hate Shelby Valley. I know I do not, just a couple of them have some serious attitude problems. Most of them are good boys. I never said there wasnt talent on the team. I never said Booher was a bad coach like you say I do. Shelby Valley has several talented players but unfortionatly the talented players have to take up the slack for a couple of under talented big mouthed showoffs.

As I said in my response to another of your posts, this teenager is someone who insults and threatens my son constantly. Would that make you angry?

I agree with Randy Davis. What team have you ever heard of in the history of any sports that did not have any internal problems? As big of a sports buff I am, I have failed to remember one team that had the perfect attitude and no bad apples around. As for the teenager picking on your son, I would probably be disappointed to. However, your son should be at the proper age where words should not hurt him and that he should be able to protect himself should the other boy try to hurt him. Plus, he should discuss this problem with the coach to eliminate future scuffles between the two. Just my thoughts.

I have no worries for my son's safety, he can take care of himself. I really don't think there will ever be a "scuffle" as you say. It's just irritating. As far as his words hurting Dev, they won't, he doesn't even get on here anymore. Like I said, it just bothers me. But I have decided to stop arguing about it because it makes it look like I have something against all the Valley boys and I don't. Most are really good kids. If you read my latest posts you will see that I wish Pikeville and Valley luck with the upcoming season.

Garrison and Tate was there. Tate had either 14 or 15 of Lightnings 29 points.

Cox had 18 of the 29 for the lightning, according to some Lightning fans, but I still say you guys are wasting your breath while arguing about basketball in June. Save it until March, where I think Shelby Valley and Pikeville will be battling it out for a ticket to Rupp Arena. I saw them both play this summer and both teams will be top 3 teams in the region!! Both will be very good!!

How many summer games, camps, ect. has Valley had this year? What is their record for the summer? I have to say, after watching some games. I am most worried about Valley, Prestonsburg, Pikeville, and Belfry. I think this year coming up, the region will be stronger overall than it has in a few years. Which is strange because of all the key seniors that graduated.

You are right. I just had all I could stand of the criticizing! I have coached these boys for years, and it really bothers me to hear them put down by someone who doesn't even know them.

I don't blame you. You do a great job with them, and I admire you for standing up for them. I wish that people wouldn't be so critical of our youngsters on here, they have enough problems in today's world without people bashing them on BGR!!

Alot of kids in todays sports are very arrogant, but it mostly comes from all the hype that the parents and communities put out there. They are constantly bragged on and told how great they are. Like you said, they have enough problems to worry about without having to see negative stuff posted about them on a message board. I honestly love basketball, but the hype that sometimes goes with it really bothers me. It is very hard for people, especially parents to be objective when talking about their kid or their kid's team.

I don't think coaches today can handle a really good ball player if he is not related to them. I've seen things done to kids , to take away from their skill and use them to make other players look better. I think it is a shame that an adult would do that. It happens and everyone knows it, but it won't work in the long run. And really good players are not arrogant. Some adults are so tied up in sports and want to controll the end results for personal gain that they never think of the kids. Kids work too hard to be good players to let some old dude take it away from them. [Not speaking about Mr. Davis ]. Don't pretend to like a kid and then try to do him in. The kids I know take your praise with a grain of salt and keep on working on their game.

Which parents should coach? The parents of the star player, or the parents of the least talented player on the team? I dont think parents should be allowed to coach a relative. It seems to me that a parent would let their son or daughter get away with more than the other players. Or they would place most of their attention on their offspring. I think they will go into it with working mostly with their family more than the other players. I dont think parents should even be allowed in the gym during practice. Parents should be able to trust their coaches decisions on the court. It is the coaches team, not the parents. I think if a parent has a question about a coaches decision about a game, they should be allowed to talk with the coach. I dont think that after every game, parents should be allowed to go to the coach and ask why jr. isnt playing more than he/she thinks they should. Coaching is a hard enough job on its own without having to put in the whole family/favortism mixed in with it.

I think a kid should be coachable, work hard at his game, be an unselfish player, and work hard for his team. If he can do this , it will show and nobody can take it from him.
