Pikeville is going to need to win the next couple of weeks if they want to avoid some road games in the playoffs, I'm not sure it will matter if they have to hit the road as they are really good, but I'd imagine everyone would always prefer to stay home than a bus ride.

Good thing Raceland and Pikeville will win their districts. If RPI was the determination of making the playoffs we would both be out lol

Calpreps CPU does a much better job ranking Kentucky teams than KHSAA's CPU does.

Still not sure why they couldn't have just used that technology which actually does a good job of ranking out of state teams as opposed to reinventing the wheel with a broken product.

Yes, I totally agree.

You are probably right. Raceland's chances of winning out look pretty good but if Pikeville gets past both LCA and Madison Central with wins, they should easily overtake Raceland in the RPI.

At this point I think drawing straws, throwing darts or pin the tail on the donkey would be just as accurate as these numbers. I would be embarrassed to put out such garbage.

Relax, folks. This will look drastically different in 6 weeks.

Actually it might not change too much.  I was looking at the schedules for several of the top RPI teams and it is very possible for several of those teams to win out the rest of the season and Raceland and Pikeville may have to travel in the post season as a result.

It's early these are subject to change, Pikeville's results the next two weeks if they are wins will catapult them way up.

but you have to look at who those teams are playing. Raceland will get good points from Greenup  Lawrence County wins. As will Pikeville with the teams that they’re playing. If the teams ranked above Pikeville and Raceland are playing teams that won’t give them much RPI points everything should equal out to where Raceland and Pikeville will be on top of the RBI

This is also assuming we win both of those games.  I think the possibility of an upset exists against either of those teams particularly Lawrence County.

WAY to early to even look at RPI rankings. When it comes down to it the RPI doesnt matter until the state semi finals.

I really don’t think so. I seen something in this group at Highlands. This group loves the competition. Last year they would’ve quit after getting smacked in the face just like the Pikeville game. They didn’t quit after that second quarter. I believe this group will come to play every week.

I agree with you about this being a scrappy group.  I really do like this group of kids but years of being let down by Raceland football have made me cynical and it’s hard to get my hopes too high.  I’m not really too worried about Greenup but I think think Lawrence County is a team that could possibly beat us.

We will beat LC by 21. I’ve been where you are at right now as a Raceland fan/ex Ram. I realized that there is more to football than winning a state championship. What Raceland teaches these young men is far more important. Would you rather win 10 championships and be disappointed in the way our program is ran or zero championships and be proud of the product we turn out? Stop thinking about a ring and just enjoy the seasons …..cause they go by to fast. Winning a trophy doesn’t make you a championship caliber program.

Win championships and be proud of the product is where you want to be. I know you don’t think top programs aren’t teaching their kids like Raceland does

Raceland has been a fun program to follow over the years. They’re like “the little engine that could” that you have to hope gets over the hump one of these seasons. It used to be the northern Kentucky schools like Bellevue, Newport Central Catholic, and Beechwood who stood in their way. Then it was Lexington Christian Academy. They had a real chance at home in 2008 I think when they lost to LCA by 7. Heartbreaker. Then it was Paintsville off and on. Then Fairview’s super teams got in their way. Then it was Williamsburg 2 years in a row. Another home state semi game blown. Then it cycled back to Paintsville and now it’s Pikeville. I hope the Rams can get it done this season or next. I don’t know what the future looks like, but I do know these are 2 real opportunities to get a state title. Just got to get through Pikeville.

Pikeville is the real deal in all aspects. I really cant say alot of anything but positives about how the Pikeville teams have carried themselves with their success. Are they a bit "big for their britches" at times? Like all 15-18 yar old kids. Absolutely. But the Pikeville STAFF seems to always bring them back down to where they need to be. Sure the fans will always go back and forth, but over the years I have had a chance to meet the Macs, Charles, and Estepp families and even in brief interactions, I saw nothing but class and respect out of their boys. Charles and Hall could have been complete a holes after Raceland beat them for their first regional championship and those boys, while heartbroken in their final game, they were nothing short of "grown ass men" in how they handled themselves. I dont think RD holds anything but respect for Pikeville and what they do.
#27
I feel the same way about Raceland and their fans and I can remember that loss at Raceland and the fans from Raceland where right there with the Pikeville players console them and the Raceland players always helping the other teams players up after a tackle shows nothing but class never have I had a negative thing to say about the Raceland team

My only issue with Pikeville is JP and his "bring a sack of cash" ass has been right the last several years...i get tired of it lol

I said in another thread that someone in November is going to go somewhere on a 4 hour bus ride and beat someone like a drum. Thats almost a given.

Have a question though. Does the RPI take into account the record of a team WHEN YOU PLAYED THEM or does it take i to account the record each given week?

Ie: team A is 4-0 when they play team B. But when team C plays team A they are 4-5. Does this change the value of said team?
