I know it is only summer ball, but Shelby Valley has beaten two past state champions this summer. They beat Louisville Eastern and Louisville PRP. Sounds like they are representing the mountains very well. Plus they start two sophmore guards, two freshman, and a junior.

Pleasure Ridge Park is a very impressive win for Valley. This is a young team who is making a lot of noise.

have they lost any games?

They lost to Conner and Madison Central that I know of.

Shelby Valley defeated Mt. Mission, Allen Central, and Paintsville yesterday... I was surprised that the young Wildcats defeated the veteran Paintsville team by double digits. I saw BasketBallonlyfan at the game... maybe he can give us his take on things...

Between these two teams, it really is a toss-up when these two teams meet. I believe that the team that wins the region will be the one that works very hard not during the season but at times like now. It's all about hard work and dedication. That's what I'm all about, giving it all during each and every game.

In my opinion, Ashley and Elisha played a very good game. Valley... excuse me, East Ky. Lightning surprised me when they defeated Paintsville.

Valley over my Tigers in summer ball, Yes. Valley over Paintville in regular season, NO! The game was called way to lightly. Valley wanted to play like a bunch of thugs. That little guard they have, not the Justice boy throwing intentional elbows. That boy that had as a center throwing all kinds of cheap shots. I just hope they know that what comes around goes around. Someone will start hitting back then we will see how tough they really are. But on a positive note, good win Valley over our Tigers. :dontthink

Just some food for thought:
2001/2002 Shelby Valley over Paintsville 88-70
2002/2003 Shelby Valley over Paintsville 50-42
2004/2005 Shelby Valley over Paintsville 90-86
2005/2006 Shelby Valley over Paintsville 64-61
Hmmm... that's four of the past five seasons that Shelby Valley has sent Paintsville home...

After watching my Tigers play Breathitt Co. I went over to watch Shelby Valley play Pikeville. I was told Shelby Valley wasnt going to show up to play them. Was they worried about playing against all of Pikevilles football players that also play basketball? I really dont know if their thug style of play would work in their favor against them.

Sounds to me like it is the Tigers who aren't playing physical enough. Funny post about East Ky. Lightning
06-21-2006, 10:17 AM
Why are they even talking about the games in here. Valley didnt want in this 4 day event, so they put their AAU team in it. Why not change the thread to "lightning summer ball"? After all, the schedule doesnt have Shelby Valley on it anywhere. :lmao:

It would be interesting to see who everyone thinks is the better team, SVHS or the Lightning team?

its summerball......its dont count what so ever...even though im a big valley fan....i just dont see them beating paintsville this year..... paintsville has too many weapons.
06-22-2006, 12:40 AM
I think it would be different in the regular season. One of Valleys players got 4 fouls called on him in less than one minute. It is a good thing you cant foul out. But in the regular season, the one that does matter, fouls count for more than just freethrows

Is that your opinion or you know that for a fact? But I have to say this, you say I hate Shelby Valley. I know I do not, just a couple of them have some serious attitude problems. Most of them are good boys. I never said there wasnt talent on the team. I never said Booher was a bad coach like you say I do. Shelby Valley has several talented players but unfortionatly the talented players have to take up the slack for a couple of under talented big mouthed showoffs.

I guess that was in the private messages, Wasn't it? Deven never, ever, ever, expressed an interest in Valley, so I really don't know what you mean about the red carpet.
