Thoughts?

Pikeville by 3+ scores.
#3
Pikeville should win with a running clock but Paintsville is a very hostile environment for visiting teams, so I am going to predict Pikeville by 21.

What a schedule Pikeville has put together this year. This should be a blowout game as they get their first win of the season.
#7
Paintsville will come out with great effort because it is Pikeville but by the end Pikeville by at least 4 scores. To much on both sides of the ball for a not real good Paintsville team.
#8
I expect the Tigers to put up a great fight and surprise some people with how they play.
#9
Anyone wanna bet on a over under ???
I say Pikeville gets hit with 100 yards of penalties in this game ….

Unfortunately for the Tiger’s I think the days of the great teams left with Chirico. Paintsville seems to have built a program for short term success and not longevity. They had a solid 6 year run that ended with the grand prize but now they look to be trending towards being mediocre. Paintsville will continue to be a respectable program but I don’t see them being an upper level contender again for a long time.

As for this game, if Pikeville is who we think they are and Paintsville is who we think they are then it’s a long night for the home team.

I dont envy Paintsville this week. 0-2 Pikeville is about 3 missed blocks a missed tackle and 3 yards from being
2-0. They are a damn good team. Phelps will have some success because that gene pool apparently has some sort of freak trait that produces thoroughbred children...

That being said, this one gets ugly in the end

Pikeville 38

I don’t have the enrollment numbers in front of me but Paintsville is one of the smaller classes A schools that plays football. Ebbs and flows with numbers and talent are going to happen.

Even in the years that weren’t “Raceland’s best” I never discounted what could happen in a rival game, and it sometimes did.

This has been a fun rivalry for sure.  Once it comes time for our game with the Tigers hopefully the Rams remember that we have won against Tiger teams that we shouldn’t haven’t won against and the Tigers are capable of the same.  Do you know how Paintsville is looking in the coming years?  I really hope they can continue being a strong program and stay in the top tier of the teams in Class A.

I do know that this is the last year a Phelps will be on the roster for the foreseeable future haha

They’ve been like the Olingers at Hazard. Great run for the family name.

Well I am 0-2 in picks this year so I am going with Pikeville again hopefully I get one right soon but as always GO PANTHERS!!!
#22
Holbrook is another long line of kids that played for Taintsville
#23
Paintsville is going to continue to be a top 10 1A school, but I don’t see them being a state championship threat for the foreseeable future like Pikeville, Hazard, and Raceland. Paintsville will always be good. Their strength & conditioning program is impressive and they’ll always play disciplined football.

As for this game, Pikeville just has too many horses for the Tigers. Panthers should win with a running clock.

I’ll take Pikeville, 44-10.

So a 21- 12 Pikeville win would be a bad thing for you Pikeville fans ?
#29
In all honesty I think a blowout is needed to rally the Pikeville troops. They always play a tough schedule but they have grown accustomed to winning atleast half of the "toss up games". Fact is, a championship caliber 1A school should blow out teams they SHOULD beat. Beat teams they COULD beat. Then comes beating a team or two you SHOULDN'T BEAT. But be competitive in games you have lost. Ie: 2017 Raceland was not truly a championship caliber team, imo. Same for Paintsville when they got blew out by Pikeville. Pikeville fans need to chill. Theres still ki ks to work out and at the end of the day, i dont think it is a QB issue. Its a system issue. Find 5-10 plays Boykins can throw the ball well comfortably and confidently and run RPOs and put Wright in the backfield some as well. Otherwise, put Duty in and let him work through the growing pains and put Boykins at WR.

Mac has had his kid at QB the last 3 years. He doesnt have that luxury now. Its goina take some time. If they were getting blasted these first 2 games id be a little less confident in them. But they are a handful of plays from being 2-0.
