Paintsville 21 Floyd Central 14
#1
Final from FCHS

Paintsville not quite what they have been, but they do have Harris Phelps and he's one of the best players in the state. He rushed for all 3 Tiger TDs.

Jags rallied late and got inside the red zone before time expired to tie the game up. Floyd Central looks much improved over last season.

Wow!!!
Surprised with this score. The district may be tighter than thought preseason.

Few mistakes on paintsville side they would’ve won by a lot more

This game was closer than I anticipated. Is Paintsville down? Is Floyd Central up? Is it a combination of both?

Floyd Central showed a lot of heart at the end and showed much improvement over last season. The end of the game was phenomenal, and it easily could have gone the other way. The onside kick with just over minute left was recovered by Floyd Central, and QB max martin almost pulled of a pass to RB Sheston Johnson that could have tied the game and sent it to Overtime. But they fell just short.

Could be a tough year on Paint Creek. Phelps is the real deal though, and could put this team on his back to make a deep playoff run, but they aren't anywhere close to Hazard or Pikeville at this point in the season. Good to see FC competing in games like this.
