Love David Jones and have nothing but high hopes for him and his team but not this weekend Belfry

This is the least talked about Belfry post I’ve ever seen. Belfry has a similar match up here as Pulaski. Bourbon is not as good. If Belfy can contain QB then they win. He lead in every stat last week and is very athletic. I doubt think bourbons defense can hold up all game. They don’t have the depth of Pulaski. Both teams have something to prove and should be a great game. Belfry should win if can hold onto the football and keep QB in check.

Is Bourbon's QB still the Estes kid?

I'm not sure who all came and left and Bourbon, but I want to say that last year they had 15 or so Juniors.  Most of them being skilled players.

I always assumed this game would be one that Bourbon Dominated in athleticism and Belfry dominated in size, but I'm not sure if Bourbon's roster survived the offseason.  If Bourbon is as athletic as they were last year, I would think they could get in the endzone a few times.  Not sure they'll be able to stop the 3 yards and a cloud of dust though.

Give me Bourbon in a 35-28 barn burner or Belfry in a 21-7 snooze fest.  Could honestly see either happening.

Yes Estes is the starting qb. The Moody brothers are good athletes as well who are originally from Man, WV. I do know from following Coach Jones on social media that they have a few kids who have NAIA offers. Bourbon should have the athletes to match up but this isn’t a track meet. Will they be able to hold their ground along the LOS? If so they will have a shot but if not it will be a long night for them.

Should be a good game, but Belfry at home with ground and pound will win out.

This could be a track meet.  I watched the Louisville Central game last year.  They turned it into a track meet and things turned out okay for them.

One thing about it Bourbon will have 2 coaches in Jones and Dotson who can explain to their kids what is about to hit them from first hand experience.

This is a borderline "Must Win" for Belfry.

They desperately need any RPI points they can get and with the remaining schedule... it is going to be a tough row to find another non-district game where you can pin point a victory being likely.

With the new playoff format you really want that favorable RPI seeding and draw if you can reach the 3rd Round.

I look forward to seeing how Belfry bounces back after a tough loss in week #1. Belfry is starting multiple Freshmen and it will be interesting to see how they respond to adversity moving forward.

Depending on who they have and lost, I think you'll be surprised at Bourbon's Athleticism.  You're right though, Bourbon isn't Louisville Central, but Isaac Dixon is also not walking out on that field Friday.

He didn’t last Friday either and we turned a 55-13 loss to a 34-21 loss. Nice try though.

Could've also been that 2 touchdown lead you start with on Pond Creek??

I think Belfry gets this one as Pond Creek is a tough place to play, and Bourbon obviously struggled to tackle last week because I saw that they gave up almost 400yds rushing. An interesting thought though, Belfry has not won a game outside of 3a in 2 years and if Bourbon is able to pull it off Friday, that has a strong chance to make it to 3 years.

To be fair. The teams outside 3a that Belfry has played have all been top 2 in their class outside of Louisville Central who was a top 5 4a team. Not like they’re playing bad teams and losing.

To be fair ... Pulaski County nor Covington Catholic is top 2 in 5a.  Cov. Cath maybe top 5.  Pulaski maybe top 10.  Louisville Central was probably top 10 in 4a last year.

I think the alarming part is that most of those games weren't very close.  I think 239-80 over that span, with a 0-1 covid loss to LCA last year that would've been a running clock.

Just let them go. They are enjoying it and clearly have an issue with belfry, we could beat every team in the state and lose to trinity and they would have something to say about it.

I keep up with Bourbon County more than most because I am from there, but I watch all of Central Kentucky football for the most part, you can read my prior posts if it makes you feel better.  No reason to hate Belfry, and nothing I've said indicates I hate them.  I simply provided a statistic and faded fans like yourself and a few other Belfry homers have a difficult time accepting anything that doesn't stroke the Pirates.  I think they'll win Friday and I hope they win 3a state again, but that doesn't change the fact that 3a football is atrocious over the last 3 years, and Belfry still stands a chance to lose on Friday in a game they will be dominated by their opponent Athletically, just as Bourbon will be dominated in size and strength I'm sure.

Some very, good point made in this thread by people outside of Belfry.

Reality is Belfry and Coach Haywood coach and their style of coaching is catered to win 3A. As it should be. It’s the class they are in.

The question is, will it continue to work?

Double edged sword. I’ll agree to disagree with this somewhat.

This same style beat the likes of Knoxville Catholic, Louisville Central, Bryan Station, Johnson Central, Cabell Midland, Corbin, Lexington Catholic, southwestern, Pulaski co

More than their system, depth and quality of depth is the biggest issue facing us these days, it’s been discussed a million times on here but the down turn in the economy cannot be denied.

8 state championships without completing a pass says that the system doesn’t necessarily need to be changed, can it be added to and tweaked yes. Should it be tweaked some? Maybe.

This should be very good game. Matchup of player vs his old coach. Both sides have athletes. I’ll give upfront advantage to Belfry. Skill positions I’ll give to Bourbon but not by large margin. The trip will be hard for Bourbon but will be fired up. Both teams have several kids who play both ways. Conditioning will be key. Belfrys young secondary will get test a lot and often. Must contain bourbons qb on the ground if want to win.
#30
If Belfry can hold onto the football they should win comfortably but if they have multiple turnovers especially ones that give BC a short field on offense then Belfry will likely be playing from behind.
