Corbin 24 Pikeville 19 Final
#1
Final

Wow!
#2
Big Time Win Way to go Hounds!
#3
Congrats to the Hounds!!

As I said in the game thread, Boykins has to be behind center when the game is on the line and I'm shocked he wasn't.

If Pikeville wants to Win a State Championship then Boykins will be the Starting QB and take all the Snaps as he by far and away is their best option. But if they want to continue to split snaps because of Parents and backlash than we'll have a very tuff season. Boykins and Pikeville win by 2-3 TDs tonight if he takes all the snaps. No Question.
#5
The game changed when Kid Elam came in to the QB position and Combs moved to Running back. Corbin needs to get Brody more touches but to me that was when the game changed. That was the momentum swing of the game…

Congrats to Corbin. Hounds will make some noise this season. Pikeville will regroup and need to get its shit together real soon.
#7
Jett said when you have 2 QBs you really have none.
#8
I don't know if they win by 2 TDs if he took all the snaps or if they would have won anyway but the kid is a flat out stud and there's no excuse he's not QB1. Hopefully the coaching staff will accept that playing 2 QBs is not the way to go and will give him control of the offense going forward.

Told you.

I mean, let’s be honest. That’s just an excuse, and that’s fine. But there was nothing either of these teams could have done to win by 2-3 TDS. Pretty evenly matched. If you think about it, we
are having the same problem you guys are.

Gotta agree. If that change isn’t made soon, then this team will be trying to find its identity throughout the season and that’s not Pikeville football.

I agree with you, this wasn't gonna be a 2-3 TD game regardless...if the loss results in the coaching staff giving Boykins control of the offense then I will happily take tonight's loss because Pikeville isn't gonna reach their full potential otherwise.

Thats not an excuse at all. If you watched the game than you clearly know that Boykins and Pikevilles Offense is Deadly and actually moves and doesn't stall out when he's out there. I didn't talk down about Corbin one bit. They're good. But The Coaches for Pikeville lost this game by not putting Boykins on the field as QB1 the entire game. Corbin Coaches made adjustments and Pikevilles stayed stubborn to the end with the 2 QB system. Simple as that

Missed this one, good win for the hounds.

Unfortunately the next game is at home in the Pike County Bowl and I would almost guarantee that Pikeville's Coaches stick with the 2 QB system through that game Win lose or draw. The worst thing for Pikeville's season would be for them to do that and then manage to squeeze out a W with the 2 QB system because then they'll be like we'll maybe we can Win with it. I hope for the sake of all the Fans and Kids who want to Win and put the Best Players on the field for the entirety of the game that Boykins is QB1 from here on out. If not gonna win 4 games at best, maybe less with this schedule.

You don't have to know much about football to see that Pikeville's offense is more dangerous when Boykins is at QB.

Schedule ain't getting easier....

The good thing is this is game 1 not the end of the season.. As I’ve stated your going to have to pick 1.

Good game. Most of you probably watch more games than I do but here's a few thoughts.

1. First quarter and a little more reminded me of the JC game last season. Pikeville came out strong from the start and dominated the first fourteen minutes or so. I think a couple of minutes into the second
quarter, Corbin had run three plays total. Great start by the Panthers.

2. Corbin was impressive in coming back from the early deficit. The biggest momentum changer was Curry's kickoff return to the Panthers 46. After that is was all Corbin, with the exception of the Pikeville's late 80 yd touchdown run. That Corbin kickoff return seemed to energize the Redhounds and the Panthers never could quite get it turned back around after that.

3. As good a kicker as he is, the Baker kid is about as good on defense. Impressive player.

4. Corbin looked to be the better team(first quarter aside) but I say Pikeville has the much better probability of winning a state title when all is said and done.

5. Corbin's #18 was the best player on the field.

6. I hope Corbin/Pikeville will play more often. Each school has rich tradition and TONS of talented athletes.

7. Great atmosphere tonight.

Here is a quote I said back in February about this years Corbin team. Now after tonights ball game, think about what I was saying back then when I made this statement......You can go back and read it in the Corbin 2022 thread started a while ago.....

Wow! I know Pikeville will have the running game and a big oline. Before I can determine whether I’m bringing bubble gum or money depends on who the Qb will be for Corbin. Corbin lost some very good players off that defense line and in the linebacker position and especially the secondary. They will be training on the fly in that game because Blake Birchfield is the real deal Holyfield! If Corbin comes out running Cameron Combs at Qb and trying to spread like they did last year then I’m bringing bubble gum because Combs doesn’t get the playbook. If Elam is your starter at QB and Combs goes to a RB/Slot/WR utility type player and Brody Wells comes over to the offense to help the returning cast, then I might pick up some pop cans and wager a bit. As far as Corbin playing a 1A school, I definitely wouldn’t do that if I were anyone else in Southeastern Ky, you will lose Ha! I think it will be a dandy game. I will be there to see it. Live on location! I’ll have Jet Pilot as the halftime show lol.

I really liked this game for both teams. I saw some good stuff out of both teams. Man, classic of classics.

Been awhole, Hound05. Not a fan of any program but my own but the other guy is way off in the 2 or 3 TD thing. I did think Pikeville's QB was better than the fast kid as his arm was top notch for high-school. But Corbin's defense, AGAIN, is absolutely incredible to me. Waves of defenders just smacking the hell out of you. Corbin simply tightened up on D. The #14 kid (sorry don't know names) did kind of get them on track and Combs was able to use his athletic ability to run and catch. But then Combs changed the game, totally, with his legs and some decisions pulling the ball down and just going. #14 looks like the future, and a damn bright one for that dude. Corbin may make a state run after witnessing (from the visitor stands, lol), and totally unbiased opinion here. Pikeville is VERY good, which tells me Corbin is back.

Nope. I’ve been lurking. Just not happy with the current situation. A win over pikeville isn’t gonna change it though haha. I’m not gonna say they’re back. It’s hard to win at Campbell field. And there’s a difference between 1A and 4A.

Definitely not your typical 1A though. 1A that beat Belfry a couple of years in a row. Of course I don't know your all's internal situation. We did see Haddix on the fan side of the fence tonight. Lol

Congrats to Corbin on the win. I thought they might be a little down by their standards this year but it looks like they will be fine.

Redhound fans should ease up on their coaching staff a little IMO. Their staff moving Combs to RB while Pikeville staff decided on 2 QB system made a big difference.

Certainly no embarrassment to lose at Corbin, but like 5-0 said, Pikeville better get their sh!t together fast. Losing changed the perception of this team from prohibitive favorite in Class A to could be anything from 8-1 to 3-6 with their schedule. As long as they are playing 2 QBs I will rank them 3rd in Class A behind 1A Raceland and 1B Hazard.

But again, congrats to Corbin and I will be rooting for you the rest of the way.
#28
Congrats Corbin on a good win!!!
#29
Solid win for Corbin. I told y'all Boykins was fast!
#30
I picked Corbin in the pick ‘em contest because of the QB issues. I felt if Corbin could make it a close game the pressure on the two QB’s would show. I’m sure Pikeville will fix their issues and have yet another great season
