Raceland @ Belfry 8/05 (Scrimmage)
#1
Raceland @ Belfry 8/05 Scrimmage. Like all the games, not sure these will be played. As all are subject for cancellation due to the Flooding.

Who you got?
#2
Should be a good test for both. Belfry's talented, but young secondary will get a good challenge. Raceland will see if they can control one of the best running games in the state. Belfry should go as far as a big, mobile offensive line will take them, but they need to find a consistent option at the second RB spot. Also does one QB make a big leap in front of the other?

I like this scrimmage. Two good teams.

Best running game in the state? Is this a parody account?

Raceland is scheduling tough and doing all the right things as a program to get that first state title. Pikeville stands in their way. This will offer a clue as to where they stand in relation to the Panthers as Pikeville has beaten the Pirates 3 years in a row.

Belfry should be somewhat rebuilding so this will be a good first scrimmage for them. They’ll probably be there at the end of the season like usual.

They do have one of the best running games in the state lol.  No parody here.

I hope it's the same running game that scored 0 on Pikeville at Belfry last year lol. But I hope Belfry runs all over Raceland if you get my drift

It should be a good scrimmage.  I believe I will get to go and I will try to post some observations after its over.

Jet, who does Pikeville scrimmage?

Johnson Central 8/6
Shelby Valley 8/13

Both away I believe

I really don’t think anything should come out of a first scrimmage that would indicate the outcome of any teams season. It should be viewed nothing more then a chance to line up against another team for the first time. If a scrimmage is ran right it should be nothing more then situational practice that makes both teams better.

Seriously, I think I will come over and watch this one. Will the excellent Belfry concessions be open for business?

Great hotdogs and nachos for sure. some great tailgate food too!

What time does this one start?

This one really is a controlled acrimmage but allows both teams to see where they are at. If the Raceland line can give Lundy time against Belfry's front 7, i think it tells us a little bit. If Belfry can hang with Racelands passing attack defensively, then that also tells us a bit about them. If Raceland can stop Belfrys rushing attack it tells us a little, but not as much in years past. As belfry couldnt get anything going consistently against Pikeville last year. I do however, think this scrimmage gets both teams prepared well for the season. I look for the Wheelersburg match up in the grid to tell us a little more about Raceland though.

Any flooding in the Pond Creek Area?

Some but nothing catastrophic. Scrimmage should be played as scheduled.

Who’s going to be rb1 on Pond Creek this year? First time in a very long time, even before Dixon that fans have had to ask this question.

Don’t expect to see very much from the 1’s for the boys on pond creek.

Looks like rain most of the evening.

Updates?

I went Scotty but only 2 scores I seen was Belfry ,1 a big long run by Belfry’s fullback and it was a good run he shed 2 tacklers and went about 50 yards I think then Belfry scored on a pass play . But this scrimmage was one of the so many plays thing so there might have been no score if they had been using the yard markers if you know what I mean. In my opinion both teams did some good things but both are just getting the rust off. Raceland had some good runs and threw some good passes but I don’t think they ever scored while I was there. Raceland quarterback threw a pick I believe or it might have been a pick and the Belfry defensive man dropped it I really can’t remember. All in all both teams had good plays and bad plays but heck it’s the first scrimmage couldn’t expect excellent play right now from any team

Saw on FB that bith teams had scored 3. 2 of Raceland scores on long passes. Heard bith teams have looked solid.

Having a Scrimmage against Belfry, especially on Pond Creek, can only be a positive once the season starts.

As long as the Rams got out without any major injuries I would call it a very successful night.

Belfry scored 4 times
Raceland scored 2 times.
Remember this Belfry pirate, ISSAC STANLEY. THIS KID IS A STUD. COULD BE COACH HAYWOODS DEFENSE EVER IN POND CREEK. I SEE ANOTHER 3A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP

I could see Belfry having some ups and downs as the season goes on much like last year and then making a run at the title come playoff time. Stanley is definitely a stud and that kid runs as hard as any I’ve seen. He will flat knock your block off.

Isaac, real name Isaiah Stanley lol ,is a stud. However he didn’t even play against Raceland Friday night nor did potential HB/DB Alex Long.

Best ever is a big statement. 2016 defense was dominant and the 2007 defense was as well. They have a lot to prove before you can put them in that category. The schedule will definitely test them.
