He ended up with 32 carries

How much yardage? Had to be over 150.
Radio said close to 200. How many did Johnson get? I hope Pikeville play calling improves, they have a lot of weapons. I think they are staying vanilla until deep in the playoffs.

Im not sure, maybe 80 could be more not sure or less. Pikeville just needs to throw ball more. Birchfield doesn’t need that many carries. It probably seems vanilla because Birchfield has been the offense and those receivers aren’t getting the throws there way.

The ref that called PI should not be allowed on a football field. Obviously cheating. The ref staring at the play from 2 feet away saw what everyone on Earth saw and immediately signaled incomplete.

And had his hand in his pocket on his flag in advance. What a turd.

I was on that side where that play happen, I didn’t see anything, but my cousin and friend I work with said that there was a grab of the shoulder. The sideline referee on that side I believe didn’t throw a flag all night.

Video shows otherwise. Textbook defense and ref threw flag after the play from way across the field. But shutout anyway but closer that expected. Another huge game coming up between these teams.

I watched the replay u posted from Twitter, I watched.it back in slow, the receiver#7 get separation at something like the 7 yard line, the DB reaches at 2 yard line and has his arm on shoulder.  I tried to screen shot it.. let see if I can figure out how to post the pic.

The score doesn't matter, the "W" does. Was the score surprising, absolutely. All that tells me though is that Pikeville can still find ways to win games, even on off nights. That's not good for the rest of 1A. Congrats to Pikeville and Hazard on a hard fought game and good luck to both in the playoffs.

Way closer than I thought.  What’s going on with Pikeville’s offense?

You will never convince anyone that receiver was interfered with. Especially the ref standing 2 feet away watching the whole thing.

I think the play in question wouldn’t look so blatant had the ref threw the flag during that slight contact instead of waiting to see the interception by #1 of Pikeville. Had either the side judge threw the flag immediately or even that back judge from midfield threw the flag while the ball was in the air, could it have been disagreeable? Yeah, but it wouldn’t have appeared as such a blatant attempt to let Hazard into the end zone. Didn’t happen anyway so it’s over, I’ll move on now. Hazard has the formula to make it very tough on Pikeville in a few weeks unless a few offensive adjustments are made. Also I think Hazard will see a few things they’ll be able to do offensively to give them a chance too. Going back, I think in 2019, Hazard was Pikevilles toughest opponent all the way thru their playoff run as well. Ended up as a running clock but didn’t happen until late. Hazard is always a more than worthy opponent.

Pikeville OC has to do a better job with play calling. It is terrible with inside zone runs 30 times a game. Watching on TV you could see the middle of the field wide open all night and he didn’t go there one time. 12 gets hurt and the season is over. No need running the RPO with a QB that never keeps it the D just ignores him. Looks just like last year way to predictable. Have no idea why you wouldn’t throw to a 6-5 TE all night either.

If Pikeville doesn't win it all this year it will be the play calling that gets them beat. Borderline atrocious.

Agreed all on him. He has all the pieces to do whatever he wants. Trying to run the option last night with a QB that won’t ever pull the ball in the RPO and run it sums it up!!!! Hope he is just holding back for the playoffs if not it will be the same result as last year.
#49
I don't know who is calling the plays but they need to find a new play caller...it's been very bad this season and last night was terrible.

I’ve always thought Pikeville just kept their playbook vanilla until they needed to turn the page. But that’s been three years now so I’m not sure the binder has another page in it.

That playbook is definitely deeper, You can’t show all the cards just yet especially if you know ur gonna meet the same team later down the road. These two should play again (IF) business is took care of.

Hazard is a district rival and any time you can pull a win out of Perry County its a good night. Pikeville's defense is just a nightmare to deal with and until someone finds an answer to it the Panthers are gonna be tough to beat. The panther offense could have put more points on the board, but 17 points was enough to get the win.  Also, ya gotta keep in mind that both coaches know they will see each other again in the 2nd round of the playoffs so neither team tipped their hand. I think you will see a different game the 2nd time around.

The playbook is definitely deeper, but why use it just yet? If you can get district wins playing solid defense and running the ball then thats what you do.  Panthers offensive scheme looks like it has in previous games with the addition of the option. Now ya know how Hazard will defend the option.

30 carries 193 yards 2 TDs

What is wrong with Hazard stats? What were Johnson's numbers? Also did Hazard have any interceptions? Pikeville stats say no ints thrown on offense and 55 rushing yards given up on defense...

^^^Best stat: 7 TFL by 7 different players on the Pikeville defense. This Pikeville defense is really special.

Well I watched the game at Hazard and never seen Hazard get an interception but they are reporting 2. Pikeville actually got 3 but we all know about the pass interference call which was not there but in all fairness I have seen worst referees. As always GO PANTHERS!!!

Hazard is reporting no carries by Johnson. Anyone have his rushing stats?
