The Kentucky High School Athletic Association's Board of Control voted on a timeline Thursday afternoon that would end the dead period that has been in effect since March 13.
The Board of Control voted that from June 1-14, coaches and players can conduct in-person meetings in groups of ten or less. Workouts or any physical activity will not be permitted.
On June 15, practices may begin for some low-touch sports like golf and cross-country in groups of ten or less. High-touch sports like football, soccer, and field hockey will be allowed to hold workouts and exercises.
Then on June 29, competitions and games can begin for low-touch sports. A date has not been set for high-touch sports to begin competition. The KHSAA says it will wait for more data from the CDC and the governor's guidance before making that decision.
The Board of Control also voted to eliminate the June 25-July 9 dead period for the summer of 2020 to allow coaches more time with their players.

I'm praying we get fall sports or a solid plan of some sort, unfortunately I think the can is being kicked down the road trying to prolong the outrage to follow the release of an unpopular high contact sports plan.
I hate to say this but with all the rioting around the US if what we've been told is true, cases in these areas of this virus should explode, if not I'd say it's ran it's course and we may get back even quicker than we would have otherwise.
I can't fathom we're close to a football/soccer/high contact sports season with all the rules coaches are being ask to follow.....Can't share water bottles, balls, nor can you spit or high five..... Much less tackle or trash talk face to face....HA

100% agree with this post, and after reading the guidelines twice, the coaches should get double pay for what they are going to have to do, going to be a headache it's not like college or the pros were you have all that extra help and you can best believe "that parent" is going to watching. My question is why even start in June if have to go by all of those guidelines. I guess just trying to keep hope that there will be a season and it will start on time.

It should be noted that the contests that begin on June 29 are for kids from the same community. You will not be able to travel to other towns to play. We have to realize there will be no summer basketball, 7 on 7 or things of that nature this summer.

I think that's part of the reason why the regular dead period isn't happening this year. I know there are other factors at play here, but not being able to travel had play a major part in not having the summer dead period.
