Player of the Year: Cody Potter, Sr., Shelby Valley, 24.6 ppg.
Coach of the Year: Jason James, Martin County
FIRST TEAM
Brady Dingess, So., Martin County, 16.5 ppg. (Capt.)
Trey James, Jr., Martin County, 14.8 ppg.
Rylee Samons, So., Pikeville, 16.8 ppg.
Trey Francis, Sr., Phelps, 19.3 ppg.
Colby Fugate, So., Paintsville, 22.1 ppg.
Isaiah May, Jr., Johnson Central, 20.4 ppg.
Jordan Frazier, Jr., Betsy Layne, 19.4 ppg.
Tyler Maynard, Sr., Lawrence County, 20.6 ppg.
Sal Dean, Belfry, Fr., 16.9 ppg.
Aden Barnett, Fr., Magoffin County, 19.2 ppg.
SECOND TEAM
Nick Keeton, Sr., Paintsville, 15.4 ppg. (Capt.)
Braxton Maynard, Sr., Martin County, 10.2 ppg.
Cory VanHoose, Jr., Johnson Central, 18.3 ppg.
Dylan Webb, Sr., Letcher Central, 11.9 ppg.
Cody Maynard, So., Lawrence County, 15.7 ppg.
Keian Worrix, Jr., Shelby Valley, 8 ppg.
Grayson Harris, Sr., Pikeville, 12 ppg.
Gunnar Williams, Jr., Prestonsburg, 15.1 ppg.
Ethan Smith-Mills, Sr., Martin County, 9.5 ppg.
Dominick Francis, Jr., Phelps, 13.7 ppg.
Not sure how they base their rankings. I would assume they look at each players stats and see how they matchup but by doing that Paintsville Big man N. Keaton avg more points per game and more rebounds per game than James but made 2nd team and not 1st team. Does this make sense or am I looking at at it wrong?

“There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies and statistics”. Mark Twain. I will leave it at that when concerning some of the averages that I know are not accurate related to a first team member.

Kinda what I thought. Must have some strong Martin Co ties. Few more players that avg more PPG and played stronger through the season that coulda justifiably been in that number 1 slot on first team. Not knocking Dingess heâs a fine player just saying there were players more deserving. I mean you had 8 out of the top 10 that out produced him. Not exactly sure what the bases of the Rankings were. Just blows my mind how little love a player like Keaton got this season.

I think personally that Keaton deserved a first team spot. I don't know who I would knock off the list to put him on it though. To say that 8 out of the top 10 outproduced Dingess is crazy. Their is more than scoring that makes a player. A point guard is the engine that drives a team and Dingess done as good a job as any other point guard in the region. Look at all the scoring averages for Martin County, 3 players averaged double figures and another right on the brink of it. That shows you dingess was doing his job which is to protect the ball and distribute, which he done and has a 15th region title to show for it.

How did Dylan Webb make top "15th region" players? lol

Apparently they didnât out produce Dingess or James, they lead their team to win both districts and regions. Paintsville got beat first round. Now who out produced who

Didnât mean to strike a nerve and No I understand that but that logic would not make since either due to Cody Potter being POY. If that was the criteria then someone from Martin co would have been Player of the year. Iâm sure you understand that. So again. How were these picked. Obviously it wasnât whoâs team went further. This is an individual ranking so not sure why âhow far the team wentâ was even brought up. As a player âin gamesâ throughout the year, productivity wise, yes Keaton out produced James. Again not knocking James, he is a great talent and very deserving of any accolades he gets. Are you seeing this another way?

Thatâs true. I guess itâs more of an entertainment deal than an valid ranking. Clearly itâs More of which players they favor vs anything. To the person commenting on Dingus I agree. Brady did an outstanding job but the same reasoning as before this isnât about who was on a team with a player or how many points their teammates had OR how well they protected the ball. Beside the name that Mountain Top Sports listed was PPG. Which leads one to believe ppg was a factor in the rankings, if not why list it. Iâm assuming by that they look at âon paperâ. PPG RPG SPG BPG Ect. Individual productivity.

Gunner williams- prestonsburg was dismissed from the team in February so how did he make it?

Sometimes you can use ppg and rpg as statistics to judge players and sometimes you canât. Iâm sure in choosing James they may have factored in block shots as well. I assume he led the region in this category since he became the stateâs all time Block leader this season.
If you just look at stats, in 2012 there was over a 100 players that averaged more points than Anthony Davis and several that averaged more rebounds than he did. Yet he was the 2012 ncaa player of the year. So sometimes Iâm sure itâs based on stats and sometimes itâs not.

Most always on stats.
