Apparently, it's official.

I hope some member from Boyle County doesn't call me out on this post and say I don't know what I'm talking about. Oh yeah, that member was sent packing. Too bad. Anyway, how do you all feel about this hire?

yea, he's in as HC, curious to see who the OC will be? will offense still be wide spread throw and go? Will it be a mixture of a balance run and gun? did Greer have to step down from his position to take coaching gig? questions!!

I view this as a major downgrade.
Greer is not a bad coach, but you go from one of the most rapidly ascending names in the State who had proven he could build a team into a State Finals team to a guy who has less than 10 years of Head Coaching experience and is on the twilight of his career. Greer's success as a HC also came on the heels of an inherited team.
If this is a short term move I think it will be fine... but if this is who Corbin is tagging as the future of their program, I think the trade from Haddix to Greer would get a C- Grade.

Everyone around town knew it was going to be Greer before Haddix was even out the door. Many hoped things had changed but the good ole boy system is alive and well in Corbin. No use crying over spilled milk now, I just hope for the best for the program and that Greer doesnât get a better offer a couple games in into the season and skip out on Corbin like he did before.

This plan has been in the works for over a year now.Secrets meetings have finally come true for the old school Corbin faithful...Jody can finally come home😂 and Wayne also.. I guess we will see who mows the practice field now? Maybe Jody can pick that part up ... will do anything for free beer!!! The Superintendent,Principal and All on the board got what they have wanted for sometime now.... #runitupthemiddle😂

didn't Haddix bring greer over to Corbin? not sure where the ole boy system of sabotaging Haddix before he left to put greer in comes from? I must not be in the loop of conspiracy theories

Congratulations Coach Greer. Good luck Hounds.
02-07-2020, 06:57 PM
The Committee...LOL. Good luck . At least cuz is treated fairly. Mills doesn't come back however. Qb at Corbin way to good for that. IF he does and plays over him look out.
Anyway Congrats to the Hounds on your hire, I am disappointed with ours as some of you may be disappointed with yours. Life goes on.

Congratulations Hounds. Just wondering how some of you posters feel, knowing the higher ups and committee members, looked right at you and lied? No one else was getting the job. Even the coaches with multiple state championships that DID apply and wanted it.

Surprise, Surprise!! They moved two steps forward when they hired Coach Haddix, to only run him out of town and take three steps back.

I'd say no one is happier to see him go than Boyle County fans.

Congratulations Tommy Greer :Cheerlead

Congratulations coach Greer! Can you say DEFENSE!

Great hire! Coach Greer will get them turned around quick.

Some of you are hilarious. Corbin went to two state title games with Tommy Greer running the defense.
Look for the offense to remain in tact, and when November rolls around and the ball is cold and damp- the toughness of Corbin and a Greer coached team will rule the night.
Laugh all you want folks- Haddix would still be here if he wanted to be. But, he wanted a reason to leave and he created one. Corbin is going to be just fine and may just see the Rebels along the way.
Congrats Coach Greer.

It could have went either way for me I really liked Coach James and his offense but I wanted to see Tom Greer back on the sideline too...A lot of things being posted is pure speculation I donât think Coach Greer wants rid of the spread offense any more than the rest of the Corbin fan base and I think heâll find someone to keep it going...Again Haddix is at Boyle Co thereâs a thread about it, shouldnât have to be discussed on every single thread on the board...

Does he have to give up officiating basketball?

All politics about the hiring process aside, Greer is the head man now and the people of Corbin will and should rally behind him. Honestly there are many positive possibilities from the his hire with the right staff around him. He is familiar with and has worked for years with all of the assistants and nobody has ever questioned him being one of the best defensive coaches around. He seems to have respect of the players and has the demeanor to improve upon the discipline of those players. I think disciplined teams have better work ethic and tend to win the big games more than undisciplined ones. I also think he has the ability to get the boys playing more as a team and less as individuals. If all of these things fall into place and he can get the similar offensive production from his assistants and players as in the past then Redhounds have the talent to make a run next season.
Is he different than the last coach, absolutely, but that doesnât mean he canât be even more successful. Canât wait to see Corbin take the field next season and start the next chapter of the program and try to bring home that state title.

Congrats to "Rooster" on being named the Head Coach. Not sure who will be in charge of the offense, but have been told that there is a young assistant coach already on staff that has a really good offensive mind.
02-07-2020, 11:41 PM
Well like most of you, I knew this would come to be. Iâm not disappointed as of right now. Because... someone said greer made his name at the heels of other head coaches. But now that Iâve been around him, I think those coaches had that success because of him. He is one of the best defensive coaches in the state. HANDS DOWN. But, he needs to find good OC that runs the spread our kids have been brought up learning. And thag coach has to be a players coach. - coach players like, like Haddix. If not, I will be disappointed, and afraid the program might go downhill. So the decision him, and the school makes for OC will be very interesting
