As much as I’d like to see Wayne keep up this Cinderella type run... JC is too good!

I have been to both. Well worth the drive!!

JC manhandles Wayne. 56-14

Johnson Central is clearly the heavy favorites, but they play the game for a reason, so I'm excited to make the trip over. Johnson Central should win, but I agree with someone earlier, the Cards have a puncher's chance and that's all you can ask for.

Eagles playing totally focused period, they know what they want
#37
Running clock for JC just another warmup before the matchup with Boyle @ Kroger Field.

Wayne Co. may be able to score but they sure do give up a lot of points.

Yea they do! They don’t have a very good defense overall. That’s not a shot or disrespect, they beat us. But they just seem to keep any good offense off the boards and rely on just simply out scoring them.

Someone made the comment earlier that any “great” team would keep WC to 50 yds rushing. That’s totally false. There’s not a team in 4A that will keep Sloan to 50 yards rushing, probably not even in a half much less a whole game. I tbink JC will win, I’d be surprised if by a running clock just because of WCs ability to score. But don’t discredit JC if Wayne puts up points on them, because I think they would anyone. I didn’t buy the hype around Sloan at first. I figured he was a very good RB with skill. Boyyyyyyyyy was I wrong. If there’s a better RB in the state I’d love to see them.

JC leads the all-time series record at 3-0. All three previous games have been in the 4A state semi-finals.

2015: JC 21-14
2016: JC 51-0

I am hoping Wayne wins but I personally don't think they even have a punchers chance. JC is way to good. At least 3 scores. Go Wayne !!

How dare you sir! Wishing away the states most anticipated matchup haha.

I’m kinda torn too. I want to see Sloan with the chance to play on Kroger field. Corbin always has room for transfers cough cough. But I really want to see the matchup everyone wants between JC and BC.

I think he is the most underrated player in 4a.

Hound05 Wrote:I concur. I think one of the big differences in this game is team defense. Wayne county has a solid high scoring offense, but their D is questionable I guess you’d call it. They aren’t bad by now means, but several weaknesses. And I don’t mean that in regards to the kids at all. I think they struggle with passing and/or a very balanced offense. I haven’t watched much of WC outside of the corbin games, so my OPINION is very limited. But those things really stuck out, specifically the lack of passing defense.

I have watched less of JC but have looked at their stats and game info pretty close. So it appears they have a better D than Wayne. The offenses look pretty similar, although I think Wayne can pass it more efficiently than JC.

Overall, I think JC is the better team and has played better competition. But JC fans will be in for a treat watching Mr Sloan do his thing. I honestly don’t think JC will stop him. I don’t think anyone has stopped him. Even in the first game with corbin, we managed to keep him off the boards but he racked up 200 yds anyways. I think JC will have to do the same, bend but don’t break. The home field also plays to JC, that’s a long bus ride from Wayne, and regardless of what anyone says I know from experience it effects the players some.

The key for Wayne to win is basically to just keep giving it to Sloan and let him shred. Because they aren’t going to stop JCs offense I don’t believe.

The key for JC is stopping Sloan from breaking the big ones off. Which can be done, but it’s about impossible to stop him from getting 3-4 yards on average. Like I said, bend don’t break. They’ve got to get 3rd and long situations all night. Because WC has proved in 3rd and shorts they go for it on 4th down with high efficiency.

I’m calling this one in favor of JC.......

42-32

JC is not giving up 32 points to Wayne Co. JC’s defense is as solid as I’ve seen from them....including the state championship team.

You could very well be right, but man it’s hard to keep Sloan off those boards. He’s just a different level of HS running back. I wish this game was live streamed, and tonight! Haha

No offense to Wayne Co I’ve met and talked to a few of you and enjoyed myself but as someone said JC defense is not gonna give up that many points... I think Sloan scores a couple maybe even three but if he has over 150 yards rushing I’ll be shocked, and it’s not that he’s not really good rather JC defense is a championship level defense and your not gonna beat them with one kid it ain’t gonna happen...good luck to both teams on an injury free game....

Good Lord, but this game will be fun to watch!!!!

We are planning on making the long haul to see this game. This will be our first time coming to Johnson Central. Any info about parking, seating, or other helpful information that anybody doesn't mind to share with us would be appreciated.

Parking is usually best in the plaza on the north end of the Stadium.... It does depend on what time you get there. If you get there early enough, then you can probably park in the middle school parking lot next to the stadium. Seating for visitors is standard bleachers. There are a few of the chair backed seats on the home side, but they go quick. Hope this helps and safe travels.

There is plenty of parking.
JC & the JC middle school are right beside each other and both have big parking lots. Also there is a strip-mall area adjacent to the school property. There is more parking there than at the school.

JC has a large home side bleacher area and a decent sized visiting bleachers.

There is no easy way to get from Monticello to Johnsonville. The two times JC played @ Wayne Co., we took the trip down the Hal Rogers pkwy.

What type of base D does JC run? And how many go both ways?

Thanks for the info. We aren't coming from Monticello, but about an hour further west. We are just a group of guys who love football and take in a game every week somewhere.

Eagles by 10. Wayne will make Johnson Central earn this one.

Take it from a former visitor. Parking is adequate but when the game is over, getting out of the lots could be difficult. Park in the strip mall parking lots. It isn't very far to walk and much easier to exit..

If anyone chooses to park in the middle school lot all they have to do is exit left between the middle school and the baseball and softball fields. It will bring you to a traffic light that will allow easy access in either direction onto SR 321.

Respectfully to all the great teams in the 4A this season, JC will be playing on Dec 7 inside Kroger Field.

This will be the 4th meeting in the past 5 years between these programs. The 1st was a classic, the second can be summed up as domination by the Eagles, and the last saw the Cardinals wilt on their home field making mistake after mistake.

Wayne County will have to play it's offensive game with Sloan getting plenty of touches. I expect him to move around more and touch the ball in different ways because of the strength of the JC defense. Some players that have showed flashes (Spencer, Ruiz, Simpson) may need to have big nights to take the focus off of Sloan. This will probably be the difference in the game for WC; can other guys come up big. Cards CANNOT get behind the chains and most importantly they can't wipe scores off of the board. I know noone keeps the stat, but WC has to lead the state in tds erased by penalties.
Brody Weaver has to stay consistent and take care of the ball as he has done all season.

Defensively, the Cardinals have had a few good games Corbin 1, Harlan, Pulaski come to mind. This Cardinal defense is quite a bit stronger against the run than the pass. The defense needs to meet the Eagle intensity up front and force the Eagle offense to fight for each first down. Getting off the field on 3rd and long has to happen. JC always has found a way to toast the Cards in the air at crucial point in the game. It will be imperative the Cardinals prohibit those big plays.

Some big breaks would also be helpful in pulling off this upset. Maybe the turnover bug will hit the Eagles instead of the Cards this go around.

Most importantly Wayne Co. has to play like they have nothing to lose, which they don't. The pressure is all on the Eagles in this one. Home team with state championship expectations. Everybody in the state just knows this game is a formality before JC and BC lock horns in Lexington.

Not so fast...[Image: http://www.thecardinalconnect.com/wp-con...Bird-.jpeg]
