J.R. VanHoose gets another shot at playing basketball and getting paid to do it. He was recently invited to try out for the Charleston team thats in the International Basketball League (IBL) and he made it. He will play his first game tonight in Charleston. I believe the Professor (the guy from ESPA Street Ball) is also in the league.
I'd like to wish him luck and even though it's a few notches down the ladder from the NBA, at least he playing the game he loves and getting paid for it.

Guys, I appreciate it!! I just got home and hate to say that we got beat tonight by good team from Cuyahoga Falls, OH 120-103. I am not sure about the scoring for the team but I was told by the owner that I led the team in scoring with 21 (coming off the bench) and I had 7 or 8 rebounds, and 3 or 4 assists. Not too bad for a guy that has just been with that team since yesterday!!!!
The league is the IBL and the teams and players are supposedly really good. Some guys have been to NBA training camps, many have been in Europe and leagues in the U.S. One KY connection for all those that follow former high school players, Harold Swanagan (UHA) players for the Elkhart, IN team that we play in a few weeks. Here is an address for the team and the league for any of those that may be able to come to a game:

Thanks again for all of the support!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't have to quit teaching, games are just on the weekends and some on Thursday (but I think just in June)! Thanks for the compliment, the #23 was just given to me last night (kind of ironic since it was my wife's basketball # in high school and college). I'll tell you one thing though, I am so sore this morning, I forgot how rough it gets!!!!!!!

Looking at the Charleston Papers and listening to the news, VanHoose had a good weekend. Friday I believe he had 17 points and 13 boards, then Saturday he had his best night so far with 35 and 17. That should make him averaging 24.3 and 12.7.

Just wanted to let everyone know how my season in the International Basketball League went. I finished the year averaging 25.2 ppg (6th in the IBL), 15.5 rpg, shot 54% from the field, and 30% from the 3-point line. I had highs of 41 points and 22 rebounds (twice for the rebounds) and I made the 2006 IBL All-Star Team (in that game I had 15 points and 8 rebounds). I also made ProBasketballNews.com's Top 20 Minor League Basketball Players for the Spring/Summer season (I was #18). Go to that website and look at the "diary" that I kept of my life in the IBL, it should be very interesting if you would like a more in-depth view of my season.
