Some observations:

It would have been about a 37 yard field goal attempt from the right hash if Paintsville didn’t go for it on 4&2. Paintsville made the right decision.

If y’all don’t think #22 was the best defensive player in this game then let’s just agree to disagree. In Pikeville’s last drive on 3&4 Pikeville ran a toss away from him and he made the tackle from the backside DE position, short of the sticks. I don’t have the stats but he played very well. #28 for Pikeville is also a great defensive player.

Also want to spotlight #24 for Paintsville. Kid might weigh 170 pounds and plays middle linebacker in basically a 6-1 scheme and just finds a way to always be on the ball carrier. Class A football at its finest.

I guess Paintsville now wants Pikeville to run the table so it helps our RPI?

Good luck Panthers. Hopefully we see you again in Lexington.

Sophomore QB in his first real big atmosphere game, several mistakes, facing high level competition in a playoff atmosphere, he will be fine. Mingo Central was no test, was just a warmup because they didn’t have a real pass rush, their secondary was Mighty Mouse sized, etc. Got some people too high because of it, this was a good game for him to have. He’s a great kid, dad is a great HC, and will get it all lined out.

Two best 1A teams went at it tonight, plain and simple. You Williamsburg posters on here can crow all you want, but until you actually win something significant no one will take you serious. Congratulations on a great game, Paintsville. Tip of the hat to you.

Now it’s on to the next one for Pikeville. Raceland next and that will be a battle again. Good luck to Paintsville, I’m sure we will see y’all again down the road.
You are setting your self up for disappointment. What has Paintsville done that Williamburg hasn't? I now see why Williamsburg thinks they have a shot at Kroger Field. Don't pencil yourselves in just yet.Other schools ain't gonna just hand it to Paintsville and Pikeville.

Well for starters Paintsville has been in the same league as Pikeville as far as not having running clocks out on them in the last 3 years and have actually beaten Pikeville a few times this decade. Williamsburg played Paintsville at home last year in the best possible situation( Paintsville had just been destroyed by Freddie Douglas and then humbled by Pikeville) and Williamsburg could only muster 1 offensive touchdown against them.

Paintsville fans, why doesn’t #22 play any offense? Seems like he could be a real weapon out there for that bunch.

Sounds like this was an awesome game.

Williamsburg played in two state championship games in the last six years. How many did Paintsville play in?

Been to the championship twice and actually scored, beaten Beechwood (so has Pikeville, BTW, and don’t say you would have done better), play a much tougher schedule year in and year out, not had a running clock put on them by Pikeville in the last couple years, etc. I could go on but I’ll save you the embarrassment. Pikeville and Paintsville both know no one is just gonna hand it to us. That’s the thing about having a real tradition rich program, we KNOW there’s a target on our backs because we’ve done it many times before. Now put your pajamas on because you’re dreaming.

.... I can’t believe I just stuck up for Paintsville on this thread. Y’all get me a doctor, a drink, and root for us to win out, eh? Lol

The truth is the Orange Bees are a more complete team right now and you better straighten up because they are coming after you and bringing 64SUR with them to Kroger Field.

You are definitely out of your mind if you think Pikeville is playing Paintsville for the state championship. lol

Never said they would. But I CAN tell you two teams will be there, and neither will be Williamsburg. Remains to be seen who the two teams are, though. That’s why they play the games. If Williamsburg makes it, I will be the first to say congrats, but they haven’t proven yet they can. A nice 10 year (or so) stretch for them, let’s see them sustain it.

Sure. We are used to people wanting to be us. Lol

All in good fun, PJ

This is fun to me. I have friends in Pikeville. I think 1A is gonna be more of a battle than some think. I wouldn't count Hazard and Raceland out either .

No not really. Pikeville is over hyped and Paintsville is gritty but extremely predictable. The fans on both sides that are continuing to overhype last nights game must have never witnessed a Hilliard Howard or Walter Brugh led team.

It could very well happen. IMO they will be the 1 and 2 seeds in the playoffs. Anything can happen and one of them not make the semi’s, but I just don’t see it.

JetPilot don't napalm Paintsville. The last time you did that they went Night of the Living Dead on you and Rose from the dead.

Haha I don't think you believe your own BS. Of course they look complete playing Jellico Middlesboro and Leslie. You couldn't combine those 3 teams and make a Top 10 Class A team. I really hope W'burg comes to Pikeville again. I love getting to Buffalo Wild Wings before 8 with a running clock and having a beer and following all the other playoff games on my phone.

They'll make a believer of you with their superior quarterback. You'll crash and burn.

You were embarrassed by that mediocre performance last night. Horrible offense.

Sometimes I sit and laugh at my own posts but Williamsburg really is going to smoke your hind end.lol

If that’s the best 1A has. How bad is 1A state wide?
