Final. Josh Watkins gets the win. Ironton scored 2 in the first and 2 more in the 5th. Tyler LeMaster gets the save pitching the 5th and 6th. Tigers improve to 6-5.

Any truth to Watkins quitting the team and leaving the game early?

Seems he done this last year to didn't he? Evidently has no concept of what being a team player really means.

Before you start dogging the kid, what was said to him and by who? Remember senior Andrew Brown walked out on the team in the preseason, when a certain assistant told him to run. He was allowed to come back. If the team and fans just want to brush it off and act like it's not a big deal, then by all means do so. You can't lose your #2 pitcher and expect to be okay, this will hurt Paintsville down the road terribly.

if kids only know how they feel about there high school years when then get older then would forget all the drama and just have fun and playball IMO.

I agree 100%, but sometimes coaches, assistants included have to remember that they're not only critics to these kids but also they're father figures. Sometimes kids don't get the love and attention that they need at home and a coach can provide that to a child. There are right and wrong ways to do things, sometime talking to a child in a positive manner rather than cracking something smart will go a lot farther. I'm not saying coaches should walk on egg shells for players, but they should realize they're more than just a coach to some kids. I'm not saying this is the case in this instance because I have no idea what happend but it has been the case before.

Good win for the Tigers! Not sure what the deal is on the Watkins matter. If the coaches and players want to win, then they will make it right, whoever was wrong. Otherwise, they will each get what they deserve - games lost and good memories erased. That is what would be shameful. Hopefully whoever was at fault was just blowing off steam and they will get everything worked out.

Not trying to dog the kid at all, I've known him for a very very long time. I was just stating the obvious IMO. I don't think anyone is trying to blow this off at all, it just isn't surprising to some of us that know him. There is quite a big difference in walking out during preseason and realizing your mistake and stripping out of your uniform in the dugout when you're due up to bat in your next half of the inning. Certainly not the leadership example you'd expect from your #2 pitcher I wouldn't think. Now who knows, come Monday everything may be settled and he'll be back in uniform I really don't know, but whatever the outcome I'm sure Coach Howard and his staff will make the right decisions for everyone involved.

i think you got it wright,if a kid dose something like that they should haft to pay the price for what they did #2 or #1 pitcher or not. that sends a mad message to the other players if knothing is done about it. IMO

First, nothing wrong was said to the kid by anyone. But I am popsitive that there are circumstances to this situation that need not be said in open forum, and rightfully so.
Hopefully everything will work out the best for all involved.

Like I said I didn't know of any of the underlying circumstances of the situation. I'm not trying to air dirty laundry by any means just trying to figure out what happend, and it seems no one that was close to the situation (1st hand and not what so and so said) can tell me.
