District Tournament Question
#1
How are the pairings setup? By district records or by a draw.
#2
The 58th seeds.
#3
Coaches vote each year to decide how the tourny will be set up, the 57th draws for the match ups.
#4
I was looking at the schedules of the 57th's teams and noticed that neither MC, SC or LC was playing JC and that MC was not playing Paintsville this year. What's going on with these schools?
#5
Since the 57th coaches vote upon how the pairings will be determined, and somehow it always comes down to a "blind draw"....Rolleyes , then respectfully, why waste games on weaker opponent when it gains nothing? I do not blame JC for their scheduling choices, nor do I have a problem with Paintsville's. I just know & so does everyone else, that as long as this district isn't seeded, the stronger teams will be reluctant to schedule with the others. (& rightfully so!)

Exactamundo!! Why should we or PHS schedule either of them if it doesn't have an affect on the seedings. It is much better to schedule other teams out of region to muscle up the schedule.

Yeh, i mean why would you want to schedule a district opponent to get a good look at their best pitcher or bes position player so you can be ready for postseason play. makes no sense that would want to know something about your opponents. Rolleyes

If I were a coach, I would try to impress on my players that they don't need to play an opponent in the regular season to help them in the playoffs. If they play and buy into the system that any coach would put in, then they should be successful. It is the coaches responsibility to scout their opponents if they don't play them and to have their team ready to implement his plan. That is true in all sports. Just my opinion.

Listen...i can set here and tell you things like, Brandon May likes to lead off most right handed hitters with a low and away fastball, or Braxton lafferty struggles with low and away changeups, but the bottom line is, you dont know until you see it. i suppose with your logic you are saying that if you had the scouting report on greg maddux that you could lace a double off the wall in your first at bat against him, or you could strike out barry bonds by reading that he cant hit a high curve ball. you just dont know until you see it...thats just the way it is...

Baseball is a game of inches, and when two teams are pretty equal as far as talent goes, then the little extra information pushes one team over the hump and gives them that slight edge they need.
