Perry Central 53 Hazard 48 (14th Region Finals)
#1
This one was tight throughout.

Thought Perry was going to bust it open on the second quarter and thought Hazard was going to do it in the third.

It was a game of runs and Perry made the last one.

D'andre Reed wins MVP of the tournament. His defense was a game-changer in this one. Turner had a big game too.

Bennett was big in this one for Hazard. He had a great tournament. Both team's biggest offensive threats fouled out (Pelfrey and Back).

This was a great game and Perry gets their first ever win over Hazard in the 14th Region tournament.

Best of luck to Hazard's seniors as they move forward.

Hazard is my way-too-early pick to win the region next year.

PCC loses 7 seniors and will gains no less than 2 out-of-state imports that will be eligible by no later than Valentine’s Day 2020, just in time for the district tournament. PCC 14th region champs in 2020. Heard it hear first.

WOW. Not sure where you are getting your info but Hazard loses two, Bennett and Kyle Johnson. Kyle came off the bench. Hazard returns Pelfry, Logan Hall, Reece Fletcher and many more. 4 of their starters returning. You are way off track buddy.

I’m cracking up. This is legit.

Bennett, Blair, Combs, K. Johnson, Miller and S. Pelfrey are all seniors. That is 6 guys that will be graduating in a few months that are on Hazard’s basketball roster. And I already posted who they were returning.

Buddy. 🤣

S pelfry hurt his knee and was out the rest of the season. Combs quit before Regionals. Not sure anyone counts Dan because he missed about 5 weeks of season plus he didn’t dress varsity during tournament nor showed up to games. And Blair came on with like 2 weeks left of season. So if you want to count those lol

33 of Perrys 53 points came from their three recruits Reed, Turner & Williams. No other player had over 6 points for the Commodores.

Hazard technically has the best 14th region home grown boys! Why does Perry never have confidence in their own players? Why must they always recruit? Those stats ^ speaks volumes! Thanks for posting!

You must be Perry homer u know way too about their program
#17
Perry County just isn’t producing the basketball players like it once did. Thus, they must look to afare to remain competitive.
#18
I have to chime in on this one Fun Fun. I am trying to remember how many D1 or College players Perry County has had over the past 20 years or so. Not very many if you do the homework. Braxton Beverly is pretty much it. There really is NO TRADITION as being a state powerhouse. Not like some would think the way people around here talk about basketball. You know they won the region at PCC for many years with just good ole local boys. As far as having any kids coming up, I dont think many eastern Kentucky teams would beat Perry Countys 8th grade best if they were all together. But will all their best kids stay together in high school? Probably not because they have no clue as what the future holds. Will more kids come in? Who really knows. Could Perry have a strong team if all those 8th graders stayed together by their Jr and Sr years. Yes, with a lot of hard work. They are producing some pretty good players. Perrys problem is, they need 1 middle school. Hire some high school coaches and get rid of the weakness having 7 teams. Theres not enough structure at the local grade schools in Perry County. Hazard however has everything centralized and have really good structure based middle school coaches. They know the Xs and Os before they come to the high school. Some of the Perry County teams I saw play this year had some structure but most did not, it was chaotic watching some of those teams play.

I find it funny that when I posted about recruiting in the 14th I was told on my post it was because parents want their kids to play for great programs with a chance to win the region. Now some of those same people are griping about Perry Central getting the majority of their points from recruits. Ironic how the tables turn so fast huh?
#20
It’s the same old story. People get mad if someone else’s “recruits” are better than theirs or if their team tried to get a kid to come to their school and they decide to go somewhere else. Reed and Williams would have been welcomed with open arms at any school in the 14th region.
#21
It'd be nice if we could talk about basketball on here.

True. The bottom line is that Perry Central will be playing on Thursday at 12:00 against Butler and everyone in the 14th region needs to support them.
#23
Congratulations Commodores. Now go on and make noise at Rupp and win some games.

They have no chance of winning “games”
#25
Have to agree with basketballx2 on this one. That game Thursday is over before it even starts. You aren’t going to Rupp struggling to score 50 and making any noise.
#26
Better chance than anyone else in the 14th plus Frazier will be in the mix.

Bulldogs4Ever Wrote:Better chance than anyone else in the 14th plus Frazier will be in the mix.

Yeah because some of their better players aren’t even from the 14th lol. They better go out and rent some more players before Thursday if you think they have any shot of winning in the Sweet 16.

You want them to forfeit?

All Tournament Team:

MVP Reed- Cordia
Turner-Jackson City
Back-Perry
Fletcher- Hazard

Only ones I can remember?
#30
I understand a Letcher Central fan crying over transfers because NO ONE would ever want to transfer to Letcher and just lose all the time. And believe me your coach try’s
But
Hazard fans can’t say a word. Hazard invented the recruiting game, hazard was doing it long before anyone else. Plus, hazard wouldn’t have even beat Leslie County in the 1st round of district without Bennett. Who’s a transfer
