Another strong schedule that should have the Panthers ready for the playoffs. Really good to see a strong Ridgeview,Va team on the schedule as a home game, and coming at the right time too. Thanks for posting Panther Thunder.

Because they were easy wins! Then when they got good you dumped them and picked up Estill Co. and Harlan!irateSho

Paintsville and Pikeville have been rivals for 100 years. Powers that be at both schools realized they should always play, after years of not playing. They make each other better. No benefit for either team in Paintsville/Magoffin game. Except of course the easy win for Paintsville, a la Estill, Harlan...total waste of a game, an open date would be more useful for both teams.

You would think that of all people, a Pikeville fan would understand how hard it can be to schedule games. Heck we scheduled Freddy Doug last year just to get 10.

I do 2000PHS, Pikeville had to scramble to get 8 or 9 games the last two years

I don't understand how anyone ends up with just 9 games but I know it happens. My point is I would rather play 9 with 2 opens if I am somehow unable to get 10 games against the endless universe of teams out there than schedule a hopeless running clock game for an easy win against a hopelessly overmatched opponent. My point stands...Paintsville and MC would benefit more from an open date than playing each other.
And you're saying Pikeville was able to get 10 teams on perhaps their best schedule in 30+ years and Paintsville gets MC? More people are dodging Pikeville than Paintsville and I'm sticking with easy win...

I like Paintsville vs. Beechwood and LOVE Paintsville vs. Union VA though. Paintsville fans will love going to Big Stone Gap, great venue!

I would venture to say that the Pikeville staff spent countless hours working on the schedule to get 10 games that also live up to the standards.
I'm sure Paintsville tried to do the same, with the addition of Beechwood as proof. Yeah MC should be an easy win, but maybe, just maybe, Paintsville thinks 10 games is better than 2 open weeks. Opinions vary.

Pikeville has only had 9 the last 2 years if I am not mistaken with last year would have been 8 if Point Pleasant hadnât agreed to play. So it is hard to get games in our area. I seen where Ashland has 4 out of state opponents for next year. Seems like other teams donât want to travel to this area to play because of distance or what not. Still wish the Point Pleasant game was still there, that was a different offense to see and they where a good competitor.

Pikeville definitely the favorite to win it, but you canât sleep on hazard

I can’t understand anybody saying it’s better to have a open date then to schedule a running clock! These kids aren’t playing the game for the people in the stands, its for them! They are young for such a short period of time and we get on here and statements ...saying it’s better for them to play less games??? Wrong...they need to play all the games they can play!!! I’ve said it before...real life is coming fast and hard! Don’t take what few games they have away from them even if it’s a running clock!

I agree with what you saidRAMDAD50, I wish they would play 10 games. I just figure out why they canât ever year. I know they do this year with Jenkins coming back into district and playing Raceland which makes 10. I know itâs tuff to get all these games to work out sometimes but I love them playing 10.

100% in agreement. Let the kids play. Even in a blowout, starting kids get reps, all the while allowing coaches to tweak and work on new things, and see JV and under classmen kids in varsity action, they may not see a single play on friday nights otherwise.

I was being facetious people! Giving Paintsville a hard time for scheduling a weak team. Now people will have to think twice about scheduling cupcakes, since RPI is now being used for seeding.

I read on Twitter that they (khsaa) want the coaches opinion on the playing district opponents in the playoffs. Seems like with what I read the first rounds they want to leave alone but no cross bracketing stuff but 1A really didnât crossbracket any one so the way they where discussing it like it would stay the same.

True but that is logical and thatâs seems to be the way they donât work. In Raceland and Paintsville and Pikeville and Hazard districts the are usually the two best teams in each of their districts so all they are doing is taking a game away from one of this teams at least in most years. Now last year Williamsburg beat Hazard so that made it different. Just quess we will have to wait and see what the masterminds come up with.
