HAIL PIKEVILLE! Wrote:Big matchup for both teams. Thoughts?
Honestly, this may be one of the more evenly matched games of this Pike County Bowl, along with Huntington vs Belfry. I really feel that fans at both marquee match ups Friday night and Saturday night are going to really get their money's worth. I can't go against my Panthers, so I'm going with Pikeville in this one.

Mods please fix the thread title, Auto-Correct got me...LOL!!!

LCA put a loss on Pikeville last year but not this year. The Panthers redeem that loss and win this game. A big test for the defense in this one because LCA does everything well. Personally don’t think it will be a high scoring game may be wrong but believe the defense has been looking forward to this game for awhile.Think it’s up to them to do their jobs and think Pikeville can win this game and as always GO PANTHERS!!!

I expect a very competitive game with two good teams. Could be a shootout but I'm gonna go with a low scoring defensive battle that will come down to the wire.
#7
LCA is a very, very young team this year after all of the transfers just saying folks :mop:
#8
LCA has one of there youngest teams in years. There is no lack of talent in that team. Both defenses are well disciplined. I have LCA winning back to back 21-14.:redboxer:

Don't know what kind of a team Louisville Wagner is, but LCA beat them 34-20 yesterday. Noticed pre season predictions where LCA is expected to be the 4th ranked odds on team in 2-A to make it to the finals this season. Understand a rebuild of the defense is a reality to start the season, and the offense seems to be a little ahead of the D. Making the trip to see this one at the PCB. For the Panthers, win or lose, it will be a great game, but got a feeling the Panthers come out on top this time around. Looking forward to seeing all this Panther talent go into action. GO PANTHERS !!

Young, but film shows the talent is there. By the way, prayers up for the young man who suffered a pretty horrific injury in LCAs win over Waggener. Hope his surgery goes well!

I'll take LCA with the mild upset according to the majority of opinion on here. 28-21
#14
I agree with what 64 stated. LCA lost a lot from last year. If the Pikeville coaches can get the players out of the new locker room and out onto the field, I think the Panther take it by 14+. The problem will be getting the players out of the comforts of the new locker room.
#15
Pikeville wins this one by 3 scores or more.
#16
Pikeville rolls. LCA is down. Pikeville is up.

I watched LCA on film and yes they are young but they have some good athletes and run and threw the ball very well. It’s going to be a challenge for these Panthers. They also are very well coached and the defense is going to have to be very aware on making their reads or it will be a high scoring game. They have good speed and block very well. Their defense is quick to the ball. Going to be interesting to see how these young men play Saturday night. Panthers do their job and they roll but we will just have to wait and see. As always GO PANTHERS!!!

Panthers make a statement. 35-13.

Saw where first CalPreps ranking has LCA as the 19th ranked overall team in the state. Has Pikeville at #59. Another reason why people shouldn't pay attention to those things, especially so early in the season with such a small sample size.

Yeah they should probably be flipped. Pikeville wins this by 3 TD's+.
#21
Nooooo, not saying that at all. Saying it is way too early for rankings like this. I never understood that. As for your pick, I sure hope so!
#22
I look for this game to look a lot like last year's game but with the roles reversed. This time Pikeville will go up and down the field while LCA will have trouble moving the ball but will make a few big plays. I'll go with Pikeville 35-14 or 35-21.
#23
Don't know much bout pikeville made my way over to watch them play the rams last year and they was very talented team with a great coaching staff and Vibrant fan base lots of respect to them and hope them and rams play again was a great game so I will go with pikeville in this one

LCA manhandled Pikeville last year, 49-21! Pikeville got a couple of scores against their JV. I don’t see it being that much of a turnaround, Pikeville by 3+ scores against a team that is ranked #14 in all classes vs Pikeville’s 50 something ranking. Sounds to me like a bunch of Pikeville opponents fans trying to downplay LCA, like Pikeville should beat them really bad! LCA is a solid program with a solid staff and loaded with athletes.

First, the first half was close. Pikeville got worn down by LCAs size and depth last year. Secondly, don't put too much stock into CalPrep rankings after each team has just played one game. Pikeville returns a ton, depth has been built up. LCA lost a ton, still have talent aplenty, but it is young. So I expect a tense game, definitely not a blow out EITHER way. Sounds to me like you might just be trying to get a Pikeville fan or someone to say something for bulletin board material. Lol. That, or you know little about football.

That’s not true Pikeville scored the first touchdown to tie the score you must not have been there or you would have known better. LCA got two fumbles and give them great field position in the first half. Plus they never did put the JV in as you say.it don’t matter they won we will see about this year and as always GO PANTHERS!!!

This could potentially be a statement game for the Panthers. LCA is traditionally a good program and a win here would no doubt legitimize their claim to being the top team in the east. Win or lose though playing tough games like this can only make you better later on the season. I don’t know enough about what LCA has this year to make an accurate prediction but based off of what this Pikeville team brings back I think they will be a tough out this year for most of the teams on their schedule.

never said Pikeville didn’t score the first TD! Geez. When did the other two scores come? They scored 3 times

nobody places much on what any rankings say, but 59th ranked to 14th ranked! That’s a huge difference. The last part of your post makes no sense

Just saying that people on this thread trying to act like LCA is not that good, they’re young, they lost a lot, etc. what I’m sating is posters are trying to act like if Pikeville wins they were supposed to and if they get beat, it was by a lesser team.
