Who wins this epic showdown. Please be constructive.

If the adults at both schools would not have started having penis measuring contests and just let the kids play ball this game would still be happening yearly. I blame it all on Lucus and the entire Somerset administration.

I blame Trump.

Do the math. Somerset wants back in in the picture because they think PC is down again.

The County are the ones that ended the series in the first place.

Series is dead and I just don't see it coming back. No matter what side of the ball you are on, those folks will always blame the other school. Until that mentality changes, it doesn't need to happen.
I tire of seeing "they only want to play again because they are down" or "its all their fault". If people want it to happen, they will. All teams are decent. No one is great. When everyone remembers that, you'll get past what ever the hold up is.

The Commonwealth Journal clearly stated at the bottom of the 1st article that Somerset had already stopped playing the county schools in football as well as other sports. Also if you search through old threads on here you will find a thread about how Somerset forfeited 4 JV conference games to Pulaski and Southwestern the same year all this started. Stop drinking the kook-aid, use common sense, there is a reason that the game was dropped after one team lost two years in a row by a significant margin.

Pulaski could be back to competing for state championships in 2020. Hard for schools as small as Somerset to compete with Pulaski numbers year in and year out.

Really???? Better quit drinking the water over there. Blame goes both ways big boy.

This is propaganda and genuinely not true. Southwestern started advertising on the coaching server for JV ball games on the same day they had Somerset scheduled during that season; and blatantly lied to people in this community about that saying that Shs cancelled. They (southwestern) forfeited to them last year twice in JV out of spite over a player transferring
Furthermore, Somerset dropped out of the Don Marshall bowl but wanted to keep the Ray Corell Bowl. These are facts.

All the schools can carry some of the blame for not playing in football. They couldn't come to terms on the Don Marshall Bowl, so Somerset didn't renew their contract. In response, Pulaski and Southwestern didn't renew their contract for the Correll Bowl, thus ending the series. I'm sure the County schools felt they were justified in their reasoning but the fact of the matter is that the County schools made out like thieves in the Correll Bowl and Somerset got hosed in the DM Bowl. Each fanbase will always feel their school was in the right.

My response was to the statement the county schools stopped playing Somerset first. So my question now is rhetorical because it was already answered above. Did Somerset stop playing the county schools first? Did they forfeit the 4 JV games first? As to why the games won't get rescheduled, I'll agree it goes both ways. I can even remember an article in paper a few years ago where the Somerset coach stated that he didn't want to play 2 5A schools in the same season because the last time he did his team suffered several injuries. Good Luck this season and hopefully all three schools will field strong teams and all three make the region finals.

The county forfeited the games youâre referring to. The whole thing is ridiculous really.

The county forfeited the second year, ask the coach for the first years JV conference standings.

pjdoug won. Getting back to the topic, Somerset donât want any part of SW or pc this year next year or 2020. I think it is funny that Somerset catches pcâs schedule full for the next two years then scream we want to play. I admit, there was a time Somerset was the top program in the county. But now they are a little behind pc and miles and miles behind South Western.

Wasnât Hines the one who said he would cancel any contract to play SHS? Seems he was the one screaming to play and when he got called to task he was shut down.

Well Iâve seen the screen shot of the email of conference standings from 2016 floating around showing somerset forfeits. Maybe someone who has it will post it. As far as Hines, come on, at first they requested a scrimmage week then they requested to play during the don Marshall bowl knowing good and well that was the only week they couldnât break contract because they would have to payout three teams... think about it pretty safe call on somerset a part.

They have also offered to let Pulaski pick the week and pay to buy out whoever the Maroons want to buy out. Pulaski has refused. That's on them at this point. It makes Johnny Hines tweets from a couple of weeks ago look pretty foolish. And in your earlier post you said that Somerset had already quit scheduling the county schools in other sports when the football series ended. That is completely false. Southwestern, not Somerset, quit scheduling contests in other sports. I think the Jumpers might have stopped scheduling in volleyball but that is it. Somerset is in the district with Pulaski so they continue to play all seeding contests.

The paper listed several sports that this pertained to if anyone wants to read it just search commonwealth journal and check out the sports section. If what they printed is incorrect, why isnât there a retraction article.
