CHICAGO â Ohio State coach Urban Meyer knew of the allegations of domestic abuse stemming from a 2009 incident involving former assistant coach Zach Smith when Smith was hired as the Buckeyesâ receivers coach prior to the 2012 season, Meyer said Tuesday at Big Ten Conference media days.

How serious is this allegation for Urban Meyer?

The smart money is that Urban Meyer will NOT being the O$U coach by 8/6/18.
There is no way The Ohio State University can keep Urban Meyer. With Brett McMurphy's report he released on his Facebook page, the other evidence that has been discovered since this story first broke is more than enough to release Mr. Meyer & his wife, For Cause, under a Title IX violation.
If you've not seen the pictures and read the text messages between Shelley Meyer (Urban's wife) & the victim, Courtney Smith (Zach Smith's wife; alleged abuser)... do your self a favor and go look them up on Brett McHenry's Facebook page. It appears that just about every coaches wife on the O$U coaching staff as well as the majority of coaches on the 2015 staff knew that abuse was taking place. Unlike a criminal or civil court proceeding, there are so many different types of evidence that are permitted in a Title IX hearing.
Title IX conviction - More likely said incident happened than not.
Criminal conviction - Guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
With the #MeToo movement that has pretty much gutted the Hollywood elite & the way our nation loves to protest.... the Ohio State University campus & the city of Columbus will explode if Meyer isn't released or doesn't resign within the next few days.

Head coaches have the responsibility under the law to know about the legal issues on there coaching staff. If anybody mentioned anything about these incidents to Urban, he's done at O$U.
Urban denied knowing anything about this situation at B1G media days.........

Pulpy is correct!! These Title IX cases are judged by a preponderance of the evidence. Meyer foolishly denied knowing anything about this case early in the investigation. The evidence proves otherwise. It's not just a preponderance, but an overwhelming proof beyond a reasonable doubt.
I think he's gone. Maybe he can get an assistant position under Saban.

Rick Pitino & Tom Jurich.... that was comical. Never good to provide the "services" to young males like they did, but it was still a funny story.
Butch Jones's career at Tennessee could be a sports comedy movie.
Domestic Violence is not funny on any level. The NFL has taken a major Zero Tolerance stance on domestic violence, so I would guess Urban's NFL hopes are gone.
Had Urban reported this situation as soon as he found out, this would not be an issue. You can't control what people do, but you can control how you handle it.... and Urban handled this about as bad as you could.
I have no ill-will towards Urban Meyer or The O$U..... but Domestic Violence has no place in our society.
If you know something, Say Something.
Urban needs to take his millions and disappear. Buy about 1,000 acres in Montana or Wyoming and just lay low. No Wifi, no cell service, no interviews..... just become a ghost.

IF Ohio state is dumb enough to fire meyer, and kentucky EVER wants to be taken seriously in football, then UK would drop stoops tomorrow and offer Meyer 7 Million a year to come to Lex.

No way UK pays out Stoops buyout amount & that would be a idiotic move on their part. Dropping a coach that has recruited better than any other coach in UK's history and had back-to-back 7 wins seasons for the first time since '06/'07 seasons. He may not be the best coach, but no shot UK drops him for Meyer.
No way UK, or any university, will hire Urban Meyer for at least a few years. Even though Urban didn't commit the domestic violence, no university wants to have a known person that creates a culture of non-reporting issues like this.

If Ohio State fires Meyer this year. He will be coaching again next year at a major university. Mark it down!! Although he was negligent, he didn't commit a crime and he shouldn't be blackballed from coaching. He should be held accountable, but it shouldn't ruin his career.

Not to get of topic, but will the hammer ever fall on Stoops? Rumor has it he hasn't been a chior boy in and around Lexington.
For the record I'm a Buckeyes fan. I think he is gone too. I'm sure they can bring in a great coach to replace Meyer. After all its obviously one of the top 5 college coaching jobs in the country.

Urban Meyer will be at a power 5 next year regardless.
The fact that you honestly.just defended stoops and to keep him over meyer tells me there no talking sense into you. Stoops will never win an SEC title. Better to fire him no than to prolong the hurt.

So, the latest rumors are that Urban Meyer is refusing to accept a suspension. What does everyone think?

Only a 3 game suspension...….. #JOKE

They made the wrong decision Urban Meyer should have been fired if this happened at another school besides Ohio State then that Head Coach would have been fired this is a joke

I'm still not sure what exactly he did or didn't do. I glad he is only getting three games.

IMO, this ruling is the same as an Alford plea. Ohio State acknowledges there is enough evidence to fire (Convict) Urban Meyer, but doesn't acknowledge guilt.
The O$U Board of Trustees had only two options in this case.
- Release Urban Meyer based on the evidence.
- No punishment for Urban Meyer because there is no evidence to prove he knew nothing about this situation.

This 3 game suspension should never happen. He is either guilty or he isn't.
All this proves is that even if you're guilty, if you're Urban Meyer or of equivalent status, you can pretty much do what you want and get away with it.
