As everyone knows the President is presently abroad in an effort to clarify and restore US relations with our NATO allies and others.
The upkeep of NATO poses a tremendous drain on the American taxpayer. Only 5 out of the 29 member nations of NATO pay the agreed 2% GDP to fund the NATO alliance. Those 5 are the US, England, Poland, Estonia and Greece. The US therefore contributes a whopping 70 cents of every dollar of the NATO annual budget. This unfortunate situation enables 24 NATO nations such as Germany for example, to spend money on things like caring for several million immigrants from the Arab World as Americans are saddled with a large portion of the cost of Germany's defense.
In 2014 the US sent nearly 600 billion tax dollars to fund NATO. From which arrangement Germany benefits greatly. At the same time, in it's ongoing struggle to wrest itself free of the European Union as demanded by English voters in the Brexit vote, England continues to shore up the Eurozone with the English Pound. Germany cuts a deal with Putin to buy Russian energy, (which if viewed correctly and as was just seen, Russia turns into a weapon which can be deployed with the turning off of a gas valve as they did in the cases as cited following)
2009
"Russia cut gas exports to Europe by 60 per cent today, plunging the continent into an energy crisis 'within hours' as a dispute with Ukraine escalated."

2015
"Russia has threatened to turn off the gas supply to Ukraine “by the end of the week”, sparking fears of a potential fuel shortage across the whole of Europe.
The dispute comes as both sides prepare to renew EU-brokered deals on gas prices – yet the crisis has gone far beyond a simple bargaining tactic after Vladimir Putin said Ukraine’s unwillingness to provide rebel-held areas with winter fuel “smells of genocide”.
So is the rhetoric coming from the Kremlin just so much hot air, or does the proposed cut-off threaten fuel bills for British families and lives in Eastern Europe?

President Trump's point makes perfect sense. Putin would not hesitate to weaponize energy reserves under his control. So while the member nations of NATO enjoy the benefits of NATO without paying for them, the American taxpayer gets shafted for the bill. And as further reward for American generosity, the Eurozone continues to impose tariffs on US trade. Now I realize there are other benefits to our partnerships with our allies other than equitable dollar tradeoffs. However, present trade deals should be modernized. After all, the issues associated with the post world order immediately following WW2 have changed dramatically. These member nations are back on their feet with our help, and it's time for the US to 'break the plate.'
The Preamble of the US Constitution: "We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."
Our leaders are responsible to the citizens of this land, not primarily NATO, and certainly not this present day willful surrender to globalism.
