Yes they will fend off GC, because of experience on both sides of the line this coming season. GC always seems to play their best defense against us, but I think the talent coming back this season and next season will be too much for GC.

Ashland I agree u all are load with young talent at the freshmen and sophomore level right now but I think the Gc game will be a dandy this year

Ashland should be loaded this season on offense. They return the best QB in the area in Braxton Ratliff, South Point transfer Cade Brandt, a healthy Ryan Bryant, senior receiver Isaac Caines, the fastest player in the area in Pittman, 2-year starter Blake Hester, and an experienced line in front of those skill players.
On defense, Junior Jones is perhaps the best d-lineman in the area. The biggest question marks would be the rest of the defense. Do they let players play both ways or do they try to develop a defensive lineup that can be fresh?
Unless the defense is a complete bust, the only loss I see on that schedule is Johnson Central.

Ashland will look different this season. They have new uniforms along with a blast from the past new white helmets.

"The Coach" Marty Gute posted on facebook that we will have a scrimmage on Aug 11, after we break camp. We will be hosting West Virginia AAA State Runners up Spring Valley. How will we fair? Will our experience against JC help up get better against this team?

No, historically I believe that game has always been played at Ashland. $$$$$$
I could be wrong. I also believe theyâre going to come to Raceland in the next schedulings of the game.

Putnam has 3 to 4 times the capacity and is usually standing room only every season for this game. Not sure Ashland has ever played a Varsity game at Raceland in my lifetime.

Hate it that one of their top players broke his hand. Might be out for the entire season. This will hurt both sides of the ball as well as special teams.

While I was there they were just team conditioning and pre game warm ups didn’t get too see much in helmets and shorts, think I heard coach say camp in 12 days. They have good size and think I counted 72 players. White helmets look sharp too. I’ll get to see them practice again next Wednesday will give another update then.

Can't wait...should be great! The only downside to this is going to be the lost revenue for each school...it's all about the gate!

There's not enough seating for us...the older fans can't stand around the fencing...that's why attendance won't come close to what Putnam Stadium provides to all fans, including the visitors!

I could be wrong but I believe Ashland is come to Raceland because they were tired of giving all that money to the Rams for playing them at home every year.So it’s Ashlands fault there is lost money! I believe it should be played at Assland every year!

It won't be Ashland's fault when we play down there and they lose thousands of $$ for all their athletic programs. The gate is the $ generator...it supports all sports activities for the schools...not just football !
