Raceland 2018
Congrats to Raceland Football Senior Austin Vance-Elkins on his State Championship performance! (3) Class A State Titles (2 x 200, Long Jump, & Shot Put) & State Runner-up in the 2 x 50 Relay. Also set (2) Class A State Meet records in the Mixed Long Jump & the 2 x 200 Relay. He is such a special kid who is loved by everyone in our community. Congrats Austin!!!

Looking forward to it! Should be a Dandy!!
Been a solid atheletic year for the Rams. Every sport saw action at the state championship level. Congrats to the seniors that graduated this evening. Thank you for the memories. That made this one of the most, of not the most, over all successful years in Raceland Atheletic history. Now, back to the thread....who will be the next name we talk about this coming season? Seems like every year there is a sophomore that steps up to fill a roll in a big way. Grizzle, Denton and Carver, Robbie Logan, Kane Snyder, Judd Adkins, Adam Elkins, all made impressions as Sophs and went on to have great careers for the Rams. Who will be the next guy up?
My only concerns are the QB position!!! Seems like we are really good or really bad at this position.Have to be able to throw the dang ball!! And I’m not sold on a kid coming in and being successful in his first year starting!! I hope I’m wrong but I think this might be a carbon copy of last year.A So so team that kept getting better to only be held back by the lack of offensive productivity
I dont RD. I think that Heighton is capable of making throws he needs to make to keep tes from loading the box. If the Itown kid ends up coming back to Raceland ( or likely from what I hear), but if he does, we are right back in the mix to be the favorite out of the east. If not, we are still a top 3 team and I think Heighton has alot ot potential to be a great QB.
Grizzle, Elkins, Boyles, and Davidson all came through and started as sophs or jrs. Josh Young was a 1 year starter. They all had experienced OL and a great bunch of backs behind them and sure handed WRs. Not much different than what the incoming QB, whoever it is, will be walking into.
Scotty couldn't agree more about the Vance kid he has worked very hard to achieve what he received a couple weeks ago 👍 congrats to him
Rd jake will be fine take couple games to settle in but he has something that a young qb needs and that is to really great rb in the back field
How is the field renovations looking? Any pictures?

Field doesn't look too bad but still a ways to go first coat of black top is on the track
its coming together. goina look great when its all finished up!
Pictures will be forth coming
QB will be upgrade from last year
Qb will be a upgrade but r line should really be good on both sides and r back field will be great assuming we have no injuries
Our backfield will never reach its fullest potential unless we get under center and run down hill some! We have good backs but we don’t have true spread style running backs!

Your backs are very good and that pass to the back coming out of the backfield really worked well. If the passing game steps up the Rams are going to be a really good team but with that said we are coming for you we owe you one and as always go PANTHERS!!!
Patriot1 I hope u are right and they meet again it's not very often anymore that u pay to watch a high school game and it is so one sided that u end up leaving at half

Well it was great last year and hopefully it will great this year with a different outcome and go Panthers!!!

agree 100% and as run heavy as we are, id love to see more play action utilized.
Under center is all but gone lol

I’ve been waiting for years to see that!! To many dang good RBs to not have done it.

i hate it, but ur right. not just at Raceland though. all iver the state. until you get into the bigger class systems, theres just not a whole lot of variety when it comes to that.
You don’t have to be under center to run downhill!

Totally agree. Plus those of you that think we had anything but an adequate offensive line last year are delusional.
Slic rick u don't make it we're we was without one of the top linemen in the area lutz always said give me a half way decent back and the best line and I will make him a superstar 👍
our line was very good last year. the running game just was not complimented by a consistent passing game to keep teams feom loading the box. we had alot of one one one coverage last year, but couldnt take advantage of the speed we had at wr. the line, the run game, and our defense, imo, was championship caliber.
Started with bad choices with personnel!! Shoudvent went with a freshmen at QB and we would’ve been much futher ahead this year.We made the same bad decision years ago with Boyd at QB...he should’ve played the slot and rolled with Messer at QB but that was then.We just keep making the same mistake but it’s easy on this side to realize that after the decision has been made
Boyd?
I got his name wrong....the kid after Elkens
Ram dad starting this kid being a sophomore is a good thing starting him as a freshman I am not a fan of the kid that was there last year done ok and made it to a state championship I feel like they got things there lined up very well to be a contender for atleast next 3 years 👍
