Cordia Big Man and Valedictorian Oumar Keita will reclassify to 2019 and join another Kentucky standout player Tilghmans JJ Reed at Beckley Prep next season....

I hope he does well. I was really impressed with him watching the documentary about Cordia and I also enjoyed watching him play this past season.

Seems like a good kid and I wish him the best.
I dropped by the Creek this weekend and he was there helping clean the school.

He had plenty of options to choose from, every big prep school in the country was after him

It wasn’t an attack but I’ve spoke to two of his teachers and that’s what they say. I hope he goes to the nba but facts are facts. And i think the comment was more about the school giving grades.

Facts... fact is no one out works him in the classroom. He only cares about getting an education to change his family tree to improve his future life. Yeah he would love to play in the NBA but a college education is all he has been focused on since e stepped foot on Lotts Creek. I know teachers at that school probably more then anyone on this thread, he out works everyone and the grades he has he very much deserved

I went to Leslie Co. I have a 4.0 GPA when I was there. I went to Perry Co. Central I had a 4.0 GPA when I was there. I went to Hazard High School my PGA drop to a 2.25...

my point is don't talk about one school about giving grades, if you don't want to talk about other school that does.

What’s the latest on the Virdia school as far as being closed or still in operation next school year?

It doesn’t matter how hard you work if you don’t get the right answers.

Did ESPN still have him ranked near the top of the 2018 class?

I wish I got in on this "grade giving" scandal at Perry Central.

I was captain of the academic team and a pretty smart kid, but couldn't even manage a 4.0...

I graduated with a 4.2. Got extra credit for college placement classes.

Can't speak for other recruiting databases, but for ESPN specifically (and I hope I'm not giving away any proprietary informationin that would conflict with my EULA with them, as what follows is what is available in the free preview), but yes, he is still listed in their database.

"Grade" is in the low 80's (****), and he is the #1 prospect in the State-- all updated as of early 2018. He's listed within the top 30 in the Nation at his position, and lots of the players following him are committed to Power 5 Conference schools.

Overall, not bad, especially considering that he's his class' valedictorian. Sounds like he's probably going to be alright.

Yes, it sounds like he will definitely be playing somewhere in another year.
Did he not like the offers he currently has if so many below him are going to major colleges? What options did he have at this point?

Of the 50 ranked, the ones below him that are going to Power 5 schools typically have one or both of two things: a significant amount of weight and/or the advantage of playing in a large metro area/at a basketball power.

He's listed at 6'10, 215, and the only comparable player to his frame would be the guy going to Stanford (who is from the Kansas City Metro area) whose reports seem to be a consensus "project". The number 46 player has his exact listing, but is also going to Northwestern. Another below him to Notre Dame. None of those are shabby academic schools and are more likely the kind of team to try to roll the dice on a player in hopes they develop.

The number 42 player, who is going to UCLA, has an inch and 15 pounds on him. My guess would be that he feels he could get a huge offer if he goes the prep route and is able to put on some weight.

VerbalCommits and some other sources say that he did have an offer from VCU, which to me could be just as, if not more, impressive than a lower-end Power 5 school.
