CAL and DeSales are not to be overlooked.

I'm excited to see Belfry and Ashland as potential playoff foes, Belfry has a while before they can even up the series though. They are 3-18 against the Tomcats all-time

I agree, CAL and DeSales can't be overlooked and Ashland should be pretty good to but this Belfry class of 2020 team was the last to win the middle school championship and the only Belfry middle school team, to my knowledge, to go undefeated in doing so. This class has some very talented athletes that should get some college attention as well. The only position that may be a problem for them is going to be the O-Line. With the exception of Center Ethan Wolford, who is a part of the 2020 class and started last year as a Sophomore and will be the starting Center this year, everyone else will be graduating. That will leave us pretty inexperienced up front. But as always our coaching staff will have us ready to go and we have some pretty big and eager young men ready to step in and fill in the gaps. Remember, most people pretty much wrote our O-Line off last year to when we graduated the 2016 class of Bentley, Dotson, and company but it turned out that our O-Line was one of our strong points and ended up being one of the best in 3A. With that said I believe we'll be ok in 2020 up front. I do think that the 2019-2020 state championship is Belfrys to lose. Unless we have a complete melt down similar to the one we had this year against Central when I think they had their best game and we had our worse, we have a great chance of adding another championship trophy to our trophy case. I'm excited for this upcoming season as well. We're losing some really good players but I think we'll be just as good if not a little better. We're returning 4 of the 5 starting O-Lineman and will be bigger up front than we were last year. We'll have some great speed in our backfield and will have our starting QB back for his senior year. I think our defense is where you'll see the biggest improvement. We played alot of Sophomores last year on defense and with a year of experience under their belt I look for them to come out swinging. Looking forward to the next two years of football on Pond Creek. Can't wait for the season to start.

Maybe the Bobcats can make a little noise with the Ole ball coach having a whole off season with these boys!

I think belfry will rattle off another run like they had from 2010 to 2016. I think they'll be in Lexington every year for a good amount of time. They may not win every one of them, but I think they'll represent the east for 4-6 years straight.

Unless Ashland, Rockcastle Co, or Bell Co can step up their games I think you are correct. They are the only ones that might have the base to do it. No one else in the new 3A has a real shot.

Ashland is not what it once use to be in football and Belfry is showing no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Ashland will be no roadblock for Haywood, just a mere stepping stone.

Other than just failing to win their region and giving up 60 points?

We may not ever win another championship, which is unlikely especially in the next 2-3 years, but I promise you we were a whole lot better than the team that showed up against Central. I'm not big on excuses, we got one handed to us, period. But every team in the history of football has had that kind of game. We probably had the worse game we've played since 2012 and Central played a great, almost perfect game. It happens. Just so happened for us that it was for the Region. Belfry is not done yet. We'll make another run this year for the title and will probably be the favorite to win it all in 2019. Only time will tell. Just thought I'd throw my opinion out there. But, your absolutely right Jetpilot, we got it handed to us in an embarrassing way but IMO it was exactly what we needed, brought us back down to earth and let us see what losing in the playoffs felt like. Come Friday night's this fall you'll see a hunger that you haven't seen on Pond Creek in awile. A hunger to make things right. Good Luck to all teams this upcoming season and I hope for an injury free season to all of our young Kentucky football players.

Reflect on that game only, nevermind the last decade. You only wish your school couldâve been as good as Belfry was and still is.

Ashland got Johnson Central last year. JC avenged the loss but anything can happen on a given night. Bell and Rockcastle have history as well. Not saying Belfry won't be there but they will have to play and beat 2 of these 3 each year to get there, maybe all 3 one year with the cross bracketing.

I'm a huge Belfry fan....and have been since the late 70's. Having said that.....I think some of you need to slow your roll a little. 2019 will be a difficult year in 3A...mark my word. CAL and DeSales both will present challenges...similar to what we've experienced with Central. Rockcastle, Ashland, Bell and others are all gonna be better. I do think that Belfry will probably be the preseason favorite....but it's gonna be a challenge.
Beyond 2019......While we may continue to experience success.....I simply don't see it coming as easily and as dominant as we did from 2013-2017. Not saying we wont be competitive....but I think we fall back into the pack...and others become the hunted.

It would be crazy for anyone, including Belfry, to think Corbin is finished and won't be a contender in 3A next year. Of course they lost some really good players but just like us I'm sure they have some very good, eager young men ready to step in and fill the gaps. No one knows better than us what it's like to lose some great players. Our O-Line was pretty much going to be our Achilles heel after graduating that monster class in 2017. What happened? We had players that went up against those monsters in practice every day, day in and day out, and were ready to take over. What resulted was Belfry having one of the best O-Lines in 3A last year. So dont think this Pirate fan thinks that Corbin is done. I expect the Hounds to have another great season with some very talented kids taking over gaps that the seniors left. Good Luck to you guys and I really hope we get that rematch that we all thought we'd get last year but just didn't happen.

My school wins the vast majority of athletic events vs. Belfry. If you want me to post all the results let me know before Wednesday morning because I'm leaving to go watch my school play at Rupp Arena again.

My school won their region in football, but if they would have lost in the regional finals and given up 60 I wouldn't be on here saying they are showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon!

Until your team beat my team, except maybe once every decade, I don't think I'd be in here saying anything. This is a 3A thread, why are you here anyway?

Just trying to figure out how giving up 60 to a region rival = showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

I'm not going to make any excuses. We got throttled. It happens when you play big boy football! You guys should know that. Lol! Happens 99% of the time you pups play the Pirates and get the brakes beat off you and sent home with your tails between your legs. Every once in awile you'll pull off a miracle but it's very rare. But you boys go ahead and be proud to play in 1A and beat on those little teams and stick your chest out that is until you get up in real 1A country and get hammered. Leave 3A and big boy football to the Pirates.

Fixed it for you. Pikeville was the best team in 3A just a couple years ago, remember? Belfry should never lose to a 1A school but again, Pikeville sports teams beat Belfry a vast majority of the time. Have a good one, I only came on this thread to point out that you shouldn't say Belfry shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon when your last game was a humiliating, running-clock loss to a regional foe.

Like I said, the sun will shine on a dog's A$$ every once in awhile! And you can fix all you want. 4 straight big boy trophies for the Pirates and more to come! See you kitty cats in a couple of months. Sorry you won't enjoy it! LMAO

pj, if that's all I could come up with I'd just hang it up! You've been hanging on to that post for years now with no proof. Don't you think if Belfry was doing something wrong that they'd be caught by now? It must be tough for you isn't it? Not having a decent team to cheer for. I would say I feel your pain but I can't. My team is to busy being a contender year in and year out. Maybe you should try following another sport. Maybe like checkers or something. Lol

That's all I need to come up with. I cheer for my hometown boys. Your team is a bunch of out of state players. Not much glory in winning with players from somewhere else.
