Estill County 44 Knott County Central 40 (14th Region Championship)
#1
Final from Perry Central
#2
Congrats to all of Estill from Beattyville. Love the 56th
#3
Wow. Congrats to Estill. Knott prepared for the wrong team the past couple of weeks and assuming they thought they won the championship in the semis.

Congratulations Estill County. Not trying to be mean, but I don't think I'll ever forget the Bentley slip while he was trying to call timeout with 0:04 left. Congratulations to Estill County, make the 14th proud at Rupp. Always love seeing teams and communities that haven't been there in forever get the opportunity. Part of what makes Kentucky so special.

First regional winner from the 56th district in boys basketball since 2003. Congrats to Estill Co.
#6
For all the haters out there!! Gotta love it! Estill takes down the big boys!! Love it!!!

I am a fan of BB King and wanted them to win for all he has been through, however, being from Buckhorn and knowing that feeling of going to state after many decades, or as Estill’s situation, never going, it’s priceless. To hear coach Bentley talk, and to speak of his faith is awesome!
#8
this is Estill Co first region championship.
#9
Sorry Fatpat

I. Caudill, C. Hofsess, B. Couch. KCC

A. Doty, J. Benton, L. Doty, Estill

if what I heard is true. I hope KCC never win another region title. what I heard, BB got his wife to try to close down Cordia.

Congrats Estill County! Represent the 14th well.
#13
"If Caleb Bonny was on Perry or Knott he would be a role player".. Just thought I would remind people of that comment. MVP!

First of all, this is not the thread or time to start that nonsense. Second, his wife has nothing to do with the board’s decision to close a school, end of that discussion.

"Caleb Bonny would be a role player on Perry or Knott". I just think Ill remind some posters of this comment a few weeks ago. MVP!

first is must be true, if you get that mad over it. if it wasn't true, you would have said no it was not true. I would be done with it. and yes his wife does work at the KCC school board.

What a jokester. Lol. I think you may need to go back to school and learn some grammar, pal.

Stop that crap guys! This is a thread about the "underdogs" from Estill County winning and showing everyone what they're made of. Represent the 56th well Estill. Go get the Red Hounds!!

I hope he took my comment and let it fuel his games against Cordia and Knott.

Like I said, I have no reason to root against the kid and was just making an observation.

I enjoyed watching him prove me wrong.

you need to move back north. I talk hillbilly. unlike you, I talk the way everyone talk here is south eastern Kentucky. stop trying to be a yankee, since you are on here, you live in south eastern Kentucky also. if you don't like it here, you can always move north.

Estill is a good team but Corbin will win game by 15 or more. Than Trinity or Scott County winner beat Corbin by 12 or more.

most teams can't play that slow ball. if Estill Co. play like the first half, they can beat Corbin. but if they try to run with Corbin, they will lose by 10 plus.
#23
Estill lost EARLY in the season the the South Lauren team by 6 I think. Not saying Estill will beat Corbin, but it is a winnable game for sure! Then its all over for whatever team. Number 1 on the state looms.
#24
Different type of game in state tournament. Corbin will speed up game n win n than get veat by Trinity or Scott County. Corbin will come out pressing from start n game will be called a lot different than tonight game

Corbin will beat Estill by 25+. Nothing against Estill, but South would've beat Estill that bad at this point in the season.

I think this is totally unfair to an Estill County team that proved it belonged at the top of the 14th tonight. KCC didn’t look past Estill, they were outplayed by a better team who had the best player in the region.

Being there before isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, especially when most of these guys from Knott (exception to Caudill) weren’t contributors to all those teams who made the runs to the Sweet 16.

Bentley had a game plan and executed it perfectly and they deserve all the credit for winning the championship. They won it, Knott didn’t lose it.

Wow, Karma does exist.

On another serious note. How in the world is one ref that was a Corbin graduate, and another ref that is currently a coach at Corbin and principal at a Corbin school, allowed to ref a game that determines who play Corbin in the sweet 16? No dog at all in this fight, but that just seems unbelievable to me. Heads should definitely roll over that decision.

None of those people could do anything about Scott County or Trinity so I don’t think it matters in the grand scheme of things.
